What Will K-Earth's Playlist Look Like in 2040?

Drake's "music" does not cross over to AC so I doubt it will be played on Classic Hits in 2040. Maybe some of the more melodic songs by Bieber may be heard. Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are superstars so in seventeen years they are very likely to receive airplay. I believe Gaga and Swift use real instruments. Another one to watch is Olivia Rodrigo who is talented and from listening to her album sounds like real drums and guitars.
Drake has Pop-leaning titles like "Hold On We're Going Home" and "One Dance" that would be friendly enough for future KBIG.

I would think Taylor Swift and The Weeknd would be a significant part of the mix. Probably Justin Bieber and OneDirection too.
Mandatory warning before playing Bieber: "Warning! Cranking up this tune can be used to drive vermin and guest who won't leave out of your house. May also cause your spouse or children to no longer want to have anything to do with you"

Better hire the Anita Kerr Singers to pretty up that disclaimer.

Probably this kind of mix by 2040 but you’d never really know…
The Weeknd - Blinding Lights
Kings of Leon - Use Somebody
Taylor Swift - Blank Space
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
Drake - One Dance
Outkast - Hey Ya
Daft Punk - Get Lucky
Ed Sheeran - Perfect
Maroon 5 - Memories
Nickel back - How You Remind Me
Charlie Puth - Attention
Lukas Graham - 7 Years
Justin Bieber - Love Yourself

We will have to see if it is like this in 2040. They will probably also play Katy Perry, One Republic, One Direction, Imagine Dragons, etc. as well as select songs from OutKast Eminem and the Black Eyed Peas.

What's so hard about that question? Think about your favorite songs of 2006 and whether they're still being played today. Shouldn't be a problem unless, of course, you were only 3 or 4 years old in 2006.

Well, even if you weren't just a kid.

Remember, they're going to be targeting 37-year-old ethnic females. If you're not a 20-year-old ethnic female right now, you're at a massive disadvantage playing in this (futile) exercise.

And even if you fit the age profile, if not the gender or ethnicity---If you had asked 20-year-old me (1976) what I thought I'd want to hear 17 years later (1993), I'd have been way off. Changing personal tastes, changing culture and no way of knowing what the future would be like and how that playlist would fit.

As we have said many, many, many (many) times on this board---Classic Hits is not what you liked back then as a teen or young adult---it's what you (well, not you, but the people in the target demo) like now.

You actually kinda nailed it.

Doubt it...Radio is the only reliable way to disseminate information en masse. In the event of a major disaster or calamity, internet and mobile service, and the power grid may be impaired. Many broadcast stations, though have back-up systems in place so that operations can continue and obviously be received on battery operated radios, independent from the grid.
But if nobody is listening because they've moved onto something else, then what good is it?
