What's up with 106.1 KISS FM (KHKS)

KHKS is one of the worst Top 40/CHR stations I've ever heard :p, they replay the same music every hour, http://www.1061kissfm.com/pages/playlist-2/, Its like I turn on the radio to frequency 106.1 and then I hear either "Diamonds" by Rihanna or "I Cry" by Flo Rida :mad:, isn't there any other music they can play instead of what's on the freakin' billboard chart? ???, and look how long their playlist is ;), http://www.1061kissfm.com/iplaylist/playlist.html?net=101 they never ever lift a finger to play Beyonce,Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, Fergie, nor Mariah Carey :'( they just play songs from last year for example "Love The Way You Lie" by Eminem??? are you serious? and they add short versions of songs, wow what a waste , look at KESS-FM I can't believe they haven't beat KHKS ratingshttp://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb024, even with their Top 40 Rhythmic format, doesn't anybody know whats up with KHKS? I know KHKS audience is probably 11-20 that listen to songs that are "annoying" and don't listen to Faith Hill ;), but I don't know why they barely play "older songs".

they're a top 40 station. I doubt any "old" songs are still in the top 40. If you don't like them, don't listen. Congrats on your first post.

They are wildly successful, number one in almost every demographic. They have achieved this level of success BECAUSE they're so repetitive. It's the science of radio. That level of repitition may not be for everybody, just the vast majority.

NOW palys Abril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, Fergie & Mariah Carey and I think they play Faith Hill too.

If I remember correctly, the only old song that airs occasionally on 106.1 Kiss FM is "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy.

There is a bit of "gold" on the KHKS Playlist, such as Nelly Ride Wit Me (10+ years old now) Usher- Yeah, (Almost 10 years old), Britney Spears- Toxic, among others. Gold gets "younger" as time goes on...

Not my cup of tea but the playlist looks spot on for top 40...about an 80 minute rotation on the 'hot' rotation and a sprinkling of recurrents, a typical top 40 rotation. When I did top 40 it was much the same way...you played what was hot now and every song was designed to catch and keep the listener tuned in. If you want variety and less repetition, top 40 is likely the worst choice.

113 songs aired
of that 62 different songs aired

37 single plays
10 got 2 plays
6 got 3 plays
4 got 4 plays
3 got 3 plays
1 got 6 plays
1 got 7 plays about every 80 minutes considering AM drive

Ken...you know what I meant...vast majority of those listening toi the radio...OK, 'vast' may be a bit hyperbolic... ;D Or, maybe it would be better to say that formula works the vast majotiy of the time.

Actually I expected a Top 40 Station to be like this. http://www.967kissfm.com/iplaylist/playlist.html and KHKS just plays the same things.

Truth be told, they should be doing what their sister station KDGE 102.1 The Edge is doing, and mixing in more old school hits. Also, they should also be airing "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove as it's so popular on LA's 102.7 KIIS-FM and a few other Top 40 stations across the nation.

How does Kiss beat them? Idk but KISS is just overrated and overplays music, not only that but the DJ's are Ignorant. Please, I've rather listen to KHFI (96.7 KISS FM or Z100 (New York City)

Its funny how they say that they play "All The Hits" :D, while KHFI-FM and KDMX-FM are the ones playing the majority of the hits :p. How bout they change their slogan to what they are doing right now??? ;)

Haha..It's funny that I just so happen to tune into 106.1 and "I'll Be Missing You" just started to play :p
