What's up with KISS-SA?

ChickWoolery said:
I think your "friend" is telling you what you wanna hear but let me break down for you just a bit-

In 25-34, KTFM is within 400 AQH persons of The Beat.

KTFM has doubled (25-34) from 900 AQH to 1800 AQH since February.

Overall, KTFM cume continues to grow across the board. Remember KTFM format didn't go full Top 40 Rhythmic until late March/early April. The Beat & Mix know that KTFM is making progress and the numbers are there to back it up.

are you selling for ktfm now?

instead of posting february thru may how about posting every month of p25-34 from october-may.

Why are you so bitter towards KTFM? Were you fired by KTFM/BMP?

By the way, it doesn't matter what KTFM numbers were in 2009 cause that format no longer exist.

99.5 KISS and KZEP will always be here and more than likely, keep their current format. It may be difficult for some to comprehend, but there is still a significant segment of the population that listens to that format, no matter what their age group. Just as in political opinion polls, they are not counted as often or as carefully as those who say they listen to the crap thats being promoted currently. Despite popular belief, not everyone cares to listen to that jungle thumping baggy pants dragging modern day urban beatnik no talent monotone ranting that some radio experts worship. Advertisers know that and advertisers also know that the economy, despite what the politburo chants, is still whirling in the toilet. There's less money to spend on junk that we want and since job security is an archaic concept no longer practiced, we only buy what we need. These two stations have always been here, (KISS since the early 70s, except that 50s music debacle, KZEP since 1985?). Also, the advertisers on those stations don't have to worry about their target audience coming into the shop and relieving them of their daily receipts. I don't think they are going anywhere, despite what some propaganda mouthpieces have to say.

Nope...I am perfectly fine where I am currently employed. My stance on Landis hasn't changed but I do feel he is making better decision in regards to KTFM and knowing the market he currently resides in.

First off, Feb is in 2010 not 2009. Secondly, I posted February because that's roughly the time KTFM started adding some of the Top 40 hits but did not fully go Top 40 until late March/early April.

If a nobody talentless fan like yourself doesn't care what happens in SA....why do continue to post/reply? That's a bit contradicting.

now ur grasping for straws. ktfm was as much the same station in december as they were in february. so how about it. post october thru may p25-34 aqh for ktfm.

I slammed KTFM? Really?

Chickwoolery I mean no disrespect here when I say this. But I learned a long time ago if you want to make it in this business you do not make enemies.

You obviously have some sort of problem with KTFM and that is just fine. If you have some sort of issue towards me that is also fine. We are all entitled to our own opinions and I acknowledge that.

However if you demand respect for your opinions, it would be hypocritical not to respect others.

If you simply do not care, then that is also your prerogative.

Fact of the matter is I am no one special. I just love doing radio. I am not one to join in such trivial squabbles towards competitive radio stations, personnel, or anyone who has issues with me.

SaRadio is a good guy. You all should just stop with the name calling. But then again.... that is up to the both of you.

Why do things get so heated in here? I have been guilty. It seems to me the crux of most of the fighting is usually about justifying an OPINION or even FACTS that are quoted with stuff that should remain on your resume.

I think it is sad. I have had some discussions in here with folks that know more and know less than I. I have always tried to respect both sides of that coin.

We are all brothers and sisters (are there some ladies in here)? We all had or still have a love for RADIO.
Why do we bash one another. It is often said we have the right to have an opinion but it seems oft times that we barely have the right to share it.

Know that some things you take as rock solid fact (based on the evidence you have) may not even be close to reality no matter how many years you have put in, or who you know.

The Sad part is that for the most part the people who rule over RADIO do not want our opinions...they just want us to go for the carrot and do as we are told for as little as we are willing to accept in return.

I do not have the answers to all of this. I just know we would all do better off if we would support each other in our efforts to understand radio and share knowledge instead of making these boards some sort of stupid competition. I am not in here to impress anyone, just discuss. I may have made the same mistakes in the past and gotten heated....I am working not to do so anymore.

No One Wins.

Came for the mis-antrhropy; leaving feeling a little circumspect.

Getting back to the original topic, I wonder how much PPM has to do with this. Being such a heritage station KISS has a lot of top of mind awareness and that might have inflated their numbers in the diary system. People might have reported listening longer to KISS than they actually did.

The only flaw in this theory is that KISS did in fact do better in the early PPM months compared to the most recent.

This is a generalization. Any tanking station can say the same so it makes you wonder which is more the truth. The fact that people put down on their diary that they listened longer than they did, that a certain amount of ppm devices weren't evenly distributed, or if people simply got sick of the station.

I have to admit that at first I was not a fan of ppm and I was strongly against it. Now today I can easily say I am the exact opposite of that stance and strongly support it. Lets face it, PPM isn't going anywhere. The diary method is a thing of the past. It took me a little while to realize it but I finally came around.

Back to KISS.... I always support heritage stations in this city. Hell, I was born and raised here. I hope they really get their stuff together.
