WHATS YO least favorite/worst/poorly programmed urban stations".

We may have had this discussion before but that is what I love about KOKY, they never updated their sound.

Wamo 100 in Pittsburgh. We don't have a true hip-hop station but we used to have a amazing one back from 1967-2009. The Current Wamo is rhythmic and so pitched with there music with voice-tracked so much than sometimes they say the next song is not even close to the next song! Lol. The Closest true urban is Z 107.9 in Cleveland.

KOKY 102.1 in Little Rock. Their sound is the most DATED urban ac ever. I know they'll throw in a blues track here and there but they never upgraded their playlist. Even KHLR Heartbeat 106.7 is better than this and they are a rhythmic.

I have to agree with you! They play dead school, not old school.

Speaking of KOKY they been in the Last Bastion Station Trust for over 6 years. I wonder if they will get a new owner soon. Can anyone see Radio One picking them up? If that happens Radio One will make changes to the format.

Don't count on Radio One making its way there. Cathy Hughes hasn't been interested in urban stations that are not in the Top 50 markets anymore ever since she pulled out of Augusta, Louisville and Dayton years back.

...and don't forget they tried selling the Charlotte stations to Davis Brodacsting, but now they're stuck with Charlotte.

Hey, does every station have to sound alike ??? That is what is nice about KOKY, it doesn't sound like the rest of the pack. There are plenty of rather generic Cumulus, Clear Channel and Radio One Urban ACs with the more modernized sound streaming online if that is what someone is looking for. KOKY is a throwback to a time when many markets had urban stations that sounded unique and distinctive in their own way - i.e. WJLB Detroit, WZAK Cleveland, WDAS Philadelphia, WDIA Memphis etc. The station will probably be sold and turned into another cookie cutter urban AC in the not so distant future.

KIIZ-FM 92.3 Killeen,TX. That is one of the most poorly programmed stations I have listened to. To me, they have not sounded the same since 2003 when the radio station turned Mainstream from a dayparted Urban station. Mychal McGuire left that same year and with that, the station went down from there. It is so bad now, that they have took all of the mixshows out. (Even the noon and 5pm mix) 1 local DJ is still there, but it seems that he feel he cannot program the radio station that he wanted to because of Clear Channel making EVERY decision for 92.3. The afternoon DJ/ program director also have to be on air early Saturday morning. I can't even listen to that station anymore because it is mainly a iHeartRadio station. I am surprised that they are still able to air Walt Baby Love "Gospel Traxx" as the only time they play Gospel music since they took away gospel music from 5am to 9am. The station as a whole has just gone straight into the trash.
