What's your Favorite Dial Number?

When I bumped into a Web-Controlled radio in Japan for the first time the first station I pulled in was "Double Seven Point 8 - Zip-FM" I always thought that was kind of cool, and unique. It was just so different to be tuning into a different part of the spectrum and still be listening to FM radio.

That would be 100.7, which was the home of my childhood favorite station, Arrow 100.7 in Pensacola FL from 1994 to 2000. I'd use it for my part 15, but there is a 10 watt translator on 100.7 about 20 miles from me and it ruins the part 15 signal. as a kid, it always brought me great pleasure to be heading south out of montgomery AL in the back seat of my parents car on I-65, with my walkman locked on 100.7, and to see that stereo indicator start to flash on and off the closer we got to the gulf coast. As soon as we passed a certain rest area outside of montgomery, i'd always put it on, at which point it would be complete static, then I'd start to hear it very faintly, and get so excited.

Mine would be 770 - "77 WABC". Even though I grew up in South Jersey outside of Philly, I mostly listened to WABC because my older brother did. My family was originally from North Jersey. Of course most people in my area listened to their music on either WFIL or WIBG, the local stations. I used to like the trips we'd take up the turnpike to visit my aunt and uncle, as WABC's transmitter was visible from their house. The station was so strong, it could even be heard on their phone line and through the record player too.

I really have good memories of listening to top 40 on AM as a kid in the late 60s and 70s.

WABC even has a big site devoted to their past Musicradio days.
