WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE "RADIO" APP?

Iheartradio...Im not a big fan of Clear Channel as a company...but...I love WKTU in NYC
Also, Wunder Radio is worth every penny of the cost of the app

Amplitude modulation with real asymmetric 150% positive mod capability.

After that would be....RTTY at 45 baud on a real model 15 teletype. ;D

I tend to download apps from stations directly as its easier to go right to that stations app.

I have ESPN Radio, WEEI, KTCU (great college station and I get to hear TCU games that aren't televised)...WFNX, The Spy (great station out of OKC), Berklee, NPR Music, Car Talk (yes they have their own app with archives), and some others.

for a general app that lets you listen to dozens of stations I usually use "College Radio Tuner" to check on college stations around the country.

What I'd really like to know is why can't TUNEIN Radio stream Clear Channel Stations? I know Clear Channel has iHeart Radio but CBS Radio has their own app too but they are also available on TUNEIN Radio.

AFAIK, it's because CC doesn't allow them to, while CBS does.

Thank you CapeCrusader!

Hate to admit it, but I had never heard of 'TuneIn Radio' before reading this thread. Perhaps because I tended to ignore apps that aren't free. However, I had a $25 iTunes gift card (from Christmas) lying around and decided to activate it and buy this app. And everyone is right - it's the best! Not to mention that I was able to delete more than a half-dozen other radio apps which it rendered redundant.

Basically, if you have TuneIn, iHeartRadio and CBS' radio app, you have most of what you'd need. Ironically, even the BBC's own app doesn't allow you to stream all the BBC stations that TuneIn does. What an awesome little application.

TuneInRadio was a real game changer for me. I drove two hours from Boston, but was still able to listen to WZBC long after the terrestrial signal faded away, flipping between BBC Radio1 and XFM London. I've always felt listening to CD's or an iPod isolated you, but listening to London traffic reports while in Boston traffic still had me feeling connected to the world. In car internet radio was real, and sounded great with the 128 kbps streams. TuneInRadio lets you choose the stream, and lets you set presets.

TuneIn Radio is SO good, while Clear Channel's i Heart Radio is bloated. After I read comments complaining about how much room it uses up on Droids, I chose not to install it. CC wants you to use iHeart Radio so they can insert advertising, and excludes their station feeds from any other streaming app. At least CBS has the wisdom to allow us to hear their feeds regardless of which app you listen on. CC loses in my opinion.

If you dig real deep, though, you can find the direct URL of some CC stations like KFI and insert them into your media player for your banner-ad-liberated listening pleasure.

And Rush is heard on how many CC stations? ;)

I don't know that this is still true. Go through the TuneIn Radio app and see if any CBS stations are in there. I did not see any. I think that you have to use their new Radio.com portal which makes iHeartRadio seem svelte by comparison. And, they insert video ads before your stream will start, though at least you can kill them if you know how. IHeartRadio doesn't do that. It makes me wish that I wasn't foolish enough to download the update to what was the "CBS Radio" app - that one worked a lot better.

Neither CC nor CBS stations are available without the aforementioned apps. And yes, the more I use TuneIn radio, the more I love it. Best $0.99 I have ever spent!

Just checked, and the CBS stations are still available on the TunedIn app, at least on Android, but they still tend to drop out periodically for 30 seconds or so. The CBS Radio app doesn't have this problem. It's slower to start and gives you a nag message if you're not on WiFi, but works better overall.

One more thing I love about TuneInRadio - it starts off with "local" stations - giving you an approximation of what you'd hear on a terrestrial tuner - including the HD channels. A nod to the regional appeal of local radio.

It's free on the Droid, hasn't hit me with any advertisements either.

I just downloaded this app, and I'm addicted to it. I still can't understand why it doesn't have Clear Channel stations, though.
