Z93 and Dave have gone thru so many changes over the past 10 years that even if the audience ever DID take them seriously it will be years before the agencies do. Whatever they do will be just another "me too" music format.
CBS as a group has made tons of blunders. But market by market they are changing managers with fresh eyes. Unless they can do a great music format, why not consider a news or talk format. You get the mature audience and WSB has the news talk market wrapped up with no challenges. Signal wise after sunset no AM other than WSB can be heard well outside 285. With declining music sales a good argument could be made that music isn't always the answer. Dave's taken a long time to still be going nowhere. All the rumored changes seem never to work. It's almost like the falcons and Dave deserve each other.

I agree 100% about Margot. She is one of the best in the biz! I really do wish someone would give her a station to program her way!
The only commit I have about changes at Dave is that I wish they would bring back Dave After Tomorrow.
My inside source tells me DAT will return in early 2008. Margot has been busy with Dave-FM HD.

I agree Mara, Sully and Margot are great! She does a great job putting in needed songs. I can't wait to hear from the new morning man tho... will he mesh with Holly and Denzil?

Um.... Zakk Tyler is not new news. It was announced over a month ago. The story is Zakk is a rock jock. Not the guy you would hire if you planned on keeping Dave's current format. I still don't think Zakk is all that great but time will tell. Hopefully this hire will put a stake in the heart of Dave's dreadful format.
I've flipped over to 92.9 several times over the weekend and listened to a few spot sets, and other thantheir New Year's Eve promotion, they're not promoting anything. I wonder if they simply have nothing going on, or if they're really going to flip/tweak tomorrow.

Nothing will change. They will get a 2 share. They will change PDs in 18 months. They will get a new morning show in 2 years.

Wow... spoken like a guy that's been fired from radio a few times. I am curious as to why Dave hasn't announced a start date for their new morning show. Why?
Unless a format change is eminent and they want to promote it all at once.
Even on Zakk's website, he said he will be able to announce a start date soon.
I'm wondering if they are going to flip and run jockless for the rest of the week. Promoting the new show and format with sweeps between songs.

That's because that's what radio stations usually do when nobody's listening, 92.9 and 99.7 excepted.
