This is a trend with most oldies station. The "oldies" moniker is no longer used. Usually there is "Greatest Hits", "Greatest Hits of All Time", "Greatest Hits of the 60s and 70s" etc. In fact, if it just happend recently, I'm surprised they waited this long.

The new line is officially "Houston's 107-5 KLDE"
same number of syllables used for jingles etc...

The reason for this growing trend is that consultants are saying that advertisers are not buying "oldies" stations, so to try and appease advertisers and get some younger demos, most "oldies" stations have dropped the moniker.
I would guess that the artists and jocks, who were popular during those years, appreciate not being associated with "oldies" too.
