When do the DJs make their Debut on 106.9 KFRC????????????

What is John Mack Flanigan doing these days?

Just wondering, these old jocks, do they have any other skills or education? It just seems they are here today and in Butte the next. I can't imagine the skills are easy to transfer into anything else other than selling cars.

What does a standard jock make these days in the SF market?

John Mack Flanagan works as a security guard in a San Francisco highrise.

Most jocks (at least of the 60s, 70s and 80s) started fairly young (15 or 16 wasn't uncommon) and many blew off college because they were already getting paid to do what they dreamed of. That certainly applies to me, but I've been fortunate in being able to move to TV news 26 years ago, and for the past five years, to apply what I learned as a radio PD programming an independent television station.

When the KFRC buzz first started a couple of months ago, I posted a "where are they now" of the KFRC jocks from 1966-1986. I don't recall any selling cars, but many are doing voice-over work and a few are in real estate.

Brian Roberts did afternoon drive on KYA in the early 70s, then spent many years as a jock in LA radio. He is now fleet sales manager for a car dealer in Southern California.
