When Jay Leno take his first Vacation

As a friendly request, can we keep this discussion apolitical please? Jay Leno's personal politics wasn't part of the oringal topic, and to be honest, I don't see how has anything to do with show's success or failure.

I'll do one better. How about no more new Leno topics for a while?

No, gonna have to disagree with that. The Leno "experiment" is valid network TV news. Yes, I think the show should be given time, but beyond that, this is a major change in network prime-time programming, and it needs to be discussed, IMO. Within the industry, this is significant.

Hah! Leno will never take a vacation because if he does, that's when the gutless programming wonders at NBC will fire him and change the locks on the studio doors.

I think they'll try and ride this out although it seems to me they have another "Jeff & Pink Lady" [or whatever it was called] on their hands.

NBC made a big mistake by not allowing stations to run News at 10 and flip Jay to 10:30. Now, Jay is at an odd time, competing not against other shows, but viewing habits entirely...

Well said, especially the part about Leno not competing against other shows...

The Dog was D.O.A. Leno is garbage. Re-tool = More Garbage. Cancel it and move on... Reruns of Flipper would do better than this pile of turd.

I think next to the Chevy Chase Show, it'll be remembered as one of television's biggest talk show busts.

It could well be.

However, this is more of a shame than Chevy because Leno is actually capable of being pretty good at this. He kicked Dave's butt when he hosted the Tonight Show and is a talented, funny guy who is also a good interviewer. It's the concept and execution that got him and it just doesn't seem that America is ready for a 10/9 pm prime time show of this format. Sadly, I don't see this thing turning around for him at this point.

The parallels with Chevy Chase end very quickly because Chevy was just plain awful as a late night hose. Literally painful to watch. Jay had a successful franchise for 17 years.

I'll have to agree with that. I've never been a Leno fan, but you have to give him his props for 17 successful years. I watched Chevy Chase one night, and was absolutely shocked at how bad he was. I had to turn it off after about a half hour. I was embarased for the man. But I tuned in again the next night to see if it had been an aberation...maybe Chevy was on drugs the previous night or something. But unfortunately, he was just as awful the second night.

It's amazing that Fox let the show run for 5 weeks. They should have pulled it after 5 nights.
