2020 to help me cope with the “virus”
I guess you’ve forgotten the morgue trucks in NY because there were more dead than the morgues could hold, the medical ships for excess sick people in NYC and LA, and the increase in disability worldwide due to the brain damaging consequences to those who survive with Long Covid. I had to process death certificates every week at my old job from people dying as a result of Covid and I have to help out someone who has Long Covid. So if you’re claiming that the virus “isn’t/wasn’t real”, I’ll just block you.2020 to help me cope with the “virus”
I’m sorry to have upset you by my comment. I just joined this group and do not wish to get blocked by a member already! Virus Covid 19 Pandemic China flu mystery disease… so many different terms people called it that was my response to the question when was the last time you purchased a radio. My clock radio I was relying on wasn’t good enough so I got a decent radio with a battery back up. I’m in NJ. I will always remember the PNC Arts Center turned into a testing site. Very scary and uncertain times and my radio helped get me through. That being said I hope you don’t choose to block me but it’s your choice.I guess you’ve forgotten the morgue trucks in NY because there were more dead than the morgues could hold, the medical ships for excess sick people in NYC and LA, and the increase in disability worldwide due to the brain damaging consequences to those who survive with Long Covid. I was able to receive 1080 KRLD Dallas (fairly well) and 1200 WOAI San Antonio (briefly and faintly) from San Diego North CountyA few months back bought an XHDATA D-220. Before that a Tecsun PL-880.
That new Qodosen DX-286 is really tempting. If it's anywhere near as good on AM as it is on FM, I probably will.
Previously (on other portables on other occasions) I'd been able to recieve
1520 KOKC Oklahoma City and 1040 WHO Des Moines.
One of my relatives listened to KOMA in the 1960s too, but way north. The old 1520 KOMA used to be popular after dark in parts of California in the 60's and 70's. My dad used to tell me he listened to KOMA when stationed in Albuquerque and Tucson in the Air Force in the mid-70's. With my parents being from Oklahoma, being able to hear what was going on there was the next best thing to being home for them.
Why wait? Throw it out and start enjoying and using the one you bought now, because it’s going to be just as old as the one that’s wearing out now once that one quits working completely.I bought a gently used Sony shower radio back in February. I love the one my daughter bought me years ago, but it is starting to wear out. It's digital and the pushbutton controls on the top are starting to fail. The ones used to set the clock have already stopped working. I saw one on eBay for a not-insane price and decided to put it away for the day this one eventually gives up the ghost.
The issue is mechanical wear on the buttons. They are embedded under a waterproof plastic sheet. Eventually the contacts wear out from being pressed too often. So I don't want to start that process of wear on the new one until that happens. Right now everything but the clock set still works. Why wait? Throw it out and start enjoying and using the one you bought now, because it’s going to be just as old as the one that’s wearing out now once that one quits working completely.
And probably all playing commercials at the same time. 😄Who says no one buys radios any more?

This is an installation from a Brazilian artist, Cildo Meireles, at the Tate Modern in London. All the radios are playing, tuned to different stations. The installation is called "Babel 2001".
Or Coast To Coast AM.And probably all playing commercials at the same time. 😄
In London?Or Coast To Coast AM.
In unison.
