Regarding the earlier comments about WBAP's morning show...hey, it's an ongoing evolution. I'm sure there was quite a bit of chatter when Dick Siegel left, same for Dick Yaws and all the others who were once a vital part of the morning show. Dan Potter was a mainstay, but he's said publicly that he wasn't happy there as much as he once was, and yearned to move into more of the spotlight. That's completely understandable after 17 years. Honestly, I haven't heard anything at all, positive, negative or otherwise, about Amy Chodroff's presence there; since she fills the role Dan left, her main function is to deliver the news. I think she does that very well. As far as being 'one of the guys,' well, that takes time. Most morning shows team a man and a woman, so there is some balance, or just a different take on things. What would Stern have been without Robin? Ron without Suzie? Gene without Julie? (HAHAHAHA) There are still a few of us guys who think guy-only talk gets stale, and eventually evolves into 5th grade-level mindless chatter about pee-pee, panties and strippers. (Sure, take that as a direct hit at Lex and Terry's new billboards if you want.)
Sure, I have my own take on politics, but I don't let it get in the way of my job. WBAP's been a well-oiled machine for a VERY long time, and is the only real ratings-getter left on AM. They must be doing SOMETHING right. As I said before, once election season TRULY sets in, the ratings will come back to normal levels. I think there's a listener weariness right now with nothing really new coming down the pike from Washington, no matter which side of the fence you're on.
Naturally, the best part of WBAP HAS to be the traffic people, especially the one during Mark Davis (who now gives reports every 15 mins instead of just at the top and bottom.) What's that guy's name....Joe Isham?
