Where is CW going in the Seattle Market?

And the purpose of a press release is to get PRESS. Why wouldn't any publication have proof of this? The Wikipedia info is based off of the post here. Nobody else has seen or published the press release including the Sinclair press archive. And @tripinva has reached out to the employee who did not respond.

I'm not saying it's not happening and have no skin in the game regardless, but you're basing your opinion completely on an anonymous poster.
For one thing, he's not anonymous to me. Second thing: It's simple enough to verify the press release by simply E-mailing the contact name on the PRESS RELEASE. And let's go for the trifecta while I'm at it: It's a simple matter to look up the notice to the Commission as to the proposed programming change. I did, and it's valid.
To me; going to some corporate website only expecting to see programming changes on one of dozens of Sinclair stations is just plain lazy.
There's many compelling reasons for people to be not convinced.
Sure, and there are people who believe man never landed on the moon, or the earth is flat.

He is to me. No offense to him, of course.

Uh, I did e-mail that contact. The contact never responded. What's the next step in verifying?

Some stations do that and some don't. Fortunately, they did in this case. That's the only reason I believe it to be true. It's definitely not this press release that doesn't seem to have actually been published anywhere, which is Lance's and my point.

I have literally not found a copy of this press release anywhere but in this thread, and not for lack of looking around for it. Stuff like this usually appears on various sites once it gets published. For example, TVNewsCheck usually republishes any press release it receives on things like this. Where's the TVNewsCheck publication? Heck, why wouldn't it be on Sinclair's site, literally the lowest hanging of fruit since it's 100% under their control? It's incredibly strange how hard it is to come by. If your friend hadn't posted it here, we wouldn't know it exists at all.

Of course. ;)

When did you attempt to contact them? Today? Yesterday? It's clearly a SBG E-mail address. Maybe they're fielding requests more important than yours, and just haven't gotten back to you yet. I mean really, isn't this the way crazy conspiracies get started?
What's the next step in verifying?
SBG is located in Baltimore. Their contact information is listed on the website. If you fancy yourself as a member of the press, you should know how to reach out without someone like me leaving neon breadcrumbs for you on some old fashioned discussion board.
I get it, your motivation in questioning the information here, but even you admit that it's ultimately correct. Yet, you keep trying to what-if the topic? Ultimately, who cares whether Sinclair didn't follow what you, Lance, or Kento believe the proper release of the programming change?

Oh yes, it's a 'deep state conspiracy to keep the information from radio and TV nerds on some discussion board. I don't work for Sinclair, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't want to create excessive concern with Hispanic viewers with the potential of losing an important network like Univision in the Seattle area, so they took a minimalist approach to announcing the change. It's their station, and the call of their PR department.

Are any of you Seattle ad agencies/media buyers that purchase advertising time from KOMO TV? If so then you likely also received the release from them. You're not? Well, then I guess this release wasn't intended for you at this point. You'll just have to wait to find out later- or sit in front of your TV on New Year's Eve at 11:59 p.m.

I wrote on October 5.

"Good morning,

I was recently pointed at the attached PDF document, which states that KUNS will be converting to CW on January 1. I've not found this apparent press release posted anywhere, including Sinclair's website, and was wondering if you could verify its authenticity.

Thank you so much."

A month seems like plenty of time to pen a one-sentence reply saying, "Yes, the press release is legitimate."

Er, nobody said this? I don't appreciate being straw-manned. I don't know why you're taking this so personally.

And the headline verbiage alone is exactly why I had to explain the situation to Lance and others here. There was more of a PR issue Sinclair had to deal with than confirming the change to just some curious English-speaking radio nerds on some obscure discussion board.

Perhaps it's time to explore the next moves for TelevisaUnivision (the parent company of Univision). They don't have an O&O station in Seattle (obviously), but perhaps this is an opportunity to get back into the market. KBCB still stands out as a possibility to me, as they have a prime cable channel number in Seattle as opposed to some channel in the 300s from being a -2 or -3 station on another network. Not sure if TCT would ever unload KBCB, but if the price were right, it could happen.

There's also the option of another partnership, but it seems like Univision prefers to do it themselves.

The question is whether the Hispanic community in the Seattle-Tacoma market can financially support a full market station that carries Univision or Telemundo. Given it's been over ten years now, had KUNS been profitable and shown growth my bet is Sinclair would have been pleased to renew the affiliate contract for another term.

Ive been trying to find a schedule for the new CW 51 debuting Monday January 1st. Tv passport still shows univision through the first 8 days of the year. The Komo tv site does not show any listings for their sister station and I could not a link to the schedule on the KUNS tv website.

I found something on ontvtonight.com. Its a schedule but most of the Day will be Sinclairs "The National desk. Also some show called ARC seattle airs in two hour windows 3 times a day.

They're under no obligation to publish the program schedule that far out. I recommend cooling your jets and waiting for another week.

Univision is moving to KVOS 12.1 starting this Monday at 6am. The same time KUNS flips to ARC TV CW Network
This will get them better over the air coverage in Vancouver, which is another big city. Not so much Seattle unless they get on a .2 somewhere.

Fortunately, there may be a solution to this problem. Since Weigel also owns KFFV, they could probably use one of their sub-channels for a .2 of KVOS.
