Where is the Elvis Christmas Music?

That's the one thing I have never been able to understand, Jewish artist recording and releasing Christmas albums.
White Christmas, one of the most performed Christmas songs of all time, was written by Irving Berlin.
I've spoken with several Jewish artists who've recorded Christmas albums, and they've told me a variety of things. It's not always seen as a religious holiday, but a time for family and gifts. Some are from mixed families (as in, their wife is Christian) where Christmas was celebrated. Some just liked the music. Some like the money.
That's it right there. Many "Christmas" songs by Jewish artists are not so much "Christmas" songs, as they are cold weather or winter songs. "Baby It's Cold Out" by Barry Manilow, and "Same Old Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg are but a couple of examples.

you missed my favorites:
"Oy Holy Night"
"All I want for Christmas is for my son to call once in a while"
and
"I'll be home for Christmas. Alone. In the Dark"

Well sir, WHY did Perry Como (A Catholic) record Kol Nidre"? This song is an Aramaic declaration recited in the synagogue before the beginning of the evening service on erev Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement?

Why did Frankie Yankovic record "Hava Nagila?"

It works both ways. It certaily has to do with money, and there is nothing wrong with that. These are "perennial songs."

Why did the (irish)McGuire Sisters have a HIT with, (Italian) "Volare?"

I guess I'm a hick, but I don't know any of those songs!

If pop singers can put out country music, then Jewish singers can put out Christmas songs. They're just singing. No one's forcing them to convert. Johnny Cash didn't actually shoot a man in Reno just to watch him die. It's just music.

guys guys ..it's got nothing to do with their religious beliefs..the record company has them under contracts..so many albums for a specific time..it's all about the money $$$$$$..why do you think when a country artist fades away..suddenly they release a gospel album ?? to tap into the market they didn't appeal to as a secular artist..bright and shiny things dazzle the country and gospel demographic..pretty baubles, bangles and beads sell to them..most often seen in late night spots right after ron popiels latest gadget..all of which can be found at goodwill........

Money is a part of it. Let's face it, people who can write, whether it be songs books or magazine articles are talented. Many of them very much so. I don't think it's written anywhere that anyone has to write to a particular audience. For songwriters it's a hook. If they get an idea, should they forget it if they happen not to be Jewish...or on the other hand a Christian? Should a singer not sing Christian music if he is a sinner...or a Christian singer not sing country music? If you followed that reasoning, we'd all suffer. You could carry it on to the British having to write for the British, etc. I think somehow we've gotten way off the subject here.
What the heck does this line have to do with Elvis Christian Music????

Everyone seems to have at least one overkilled Christmas song that they can't stand anymore, well that one sends ME over the edge!

I can say that I'm tired of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Now," no matter who sings it. It's too outdated for these times.

By the way, between the handful of Christmas stations I have been sampling, I noticed the omission of two songs: Run-DMC's "Christmas In Hollis" and The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping." They used to get major airplay way back when; how times have changed. Instead, we have to settle for more Amy Grant!

The story I heard was that Elvis hated Blue Christmas. He didn't want to record it, and wanted to find a way to kill it. So he came up with the repetitious background vocals. He figured they'd be so annoying, that people would hate the song and it wouldn't become a hit. Instead, it had the opposite effect. But as a listener, I get what Elvis was trying to do, I find those background vocals annoying, and I always shut the radio off when that song comes on.

Every singer lives from hit to hit so I doubt that's true. Elvis was a bit insecure about the career otherwise he would have split from Tom Parker.

Lookout there is an Elvis Duet of "Blue Christmas" complete with video. I love the song! :p

The Christmas music station in Phoenix is playing it. The first time I heard it, once Martina joined in, I was like, "WTF?" ???
