Where's Greggo Take III

In all seriousness, his claims that this absence wasn't drug-affected is a bunch of crap. The man takes sleeping pills every day. He's addicted to Ambien. He used the drug to sleep away the days. No one should be taking sleeping pills every day, certainly not a recovering opiate abuser.

That's an awful ignorant and uninformed thing to say. Ever heard of Shift Work Sleep Disorder? My wife is a nurse and works 12-hour night shifts on the weekend and tries to go back to regular sleep hours during weekdays. She takes Ambien every night.

Since you quote the esteemed scientific journal, Wikipedia, allow me to do the same.

"A review of the literature regarding benzodiazepine hypnotic and Z drugs concluded that these drugs caused an unjustifiable risk to the individual and to public health, and lack evidence of long-term effectiveness due to tolerance. The risks include dependence ... Preferably they should be prescribed for only a few days at the lowest effective dose"

"Preferably" we'd like to not have the issue at all. Realistically, it helps her get through each day. Dramatically, I think maybe you should let my wife and her doctor decide what's best for her. Truthfully, making blanket statements about situations for which you are not fully informed is ignorant.

The last word is yours. I won't be returning to this thread. Bye! ;D

Without getting into medical discussions, the issue at hand is the fact Gregg isn't well. We don't know the reasons if its tied to his lap-band removal, bipolar disorder or a repeat of his addiction issues. The real issue is a man who wasn't responsible in letting his team, fellow co-workers and management know where he was. The man has a past history of bad decisions and worse behavior and frankly, Spittle needs to take a hard stance on this situation, either force him to get serious help for all his issues or lose his job.
