Even though I no longer live there, I still think Houston needs a gold-based soft adult contemporary format. A format whose core artists include Barry Manilow, Olivia Newton-John, Barbra Streisand, Rita Coolidge, Anne Murray, Air Supply, James Taylor, Seals & Crofts, Neil Diamond, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Simon & Garfunkel, among others. I know it's not a big money making format these days, but I think it would be a good alternative to what's currently on the radio.
That, and so I'll have something to listen to next time I'm in town.
When I lived in Houston, I operated a Part 15 AM station with such a format, although it's probably not worth mentioning, since it could only be heard within half a block of my apartment building.
The satellite standards format that KBME 790 used to run has evolved more into soft AC; maybe if their sports format doesn't work out, they could switch back. (I know, not likely to happen; just throwing it out there.)
I know the title of the thread says "FM"; however, if no FM is willing to pick up such a format and an AM is, I don't mind switching over to the AM band.
