In many markets, even the bigs, a reporter doubles as a weekend co-anchor. Usually at not much more pay, because the prestige is the real value, if indeed that is their calling.
If one of them is a pretty woman I'm sure that attracts viewers. You still probably want an authoritative man too.Later said:Why do they even need 2 anchors on weekdays? All the anchors do is intro stories. The network does it just fine, So why can't the locals? Weekend news casts are often hard fill at least the markets I have seen, I'm shocked to read that some markets still have 2 weekend anchors.
I must have missed that.ATL11750 said:when they went to the CW, Reg Taylor works M-F and Jacinda Garabito does Saturday and Sunday.vchimpanzee said:WCCB Charlotte NC has their weeknight meteorologist work on Sunday night at 10 (there is no 6:00 newscast on any night). The weekend meterologist works Friday night and maybe Thursday night. I don't know which anchors work when because I only watch the weather.
The networks are more hardcore World News oriented than anything whereas the local newscasts are more like the local crime report with news that breaks faster than it does on the networksLater said:Why do they even need 2 anchors on weekdays?
