Which markets have Weekend 2 anchor newscast?

In many markets, even the bigs, a reporter doubles as a weekend co-anchor. Usually at not much more pay, because the prestige is the real value, if indeed that is their calling.

KMBC/KCWE and FOXKC as 2 Anchors on Weekends but when ulsy Farrell/Pulley/Collins are off FOX4KC only Abby Eaton came in on Sundays when Pulley was out because of Baby. KMBC sometimes will bring a Reporter like Harrison or Scott M. When Jennings or Mortiz is off.
KSHB doesn't have 2 people in the Evenings at the moment with Newsome moved to Midday meaning Hawey is by herself. KCTV5 just has Amy Anderson and hasen't given her a Co-Anchor back.

Why do they even need 2 anchors on weekdays? All the anchors do is intro stories. The network does it just fine, So why can't the locals? Weekend news casts are often hard fill at least the markets I have seen, I'm shocked to read that some markets still have 2 weekend anchors.

Really depends on how the news department view their productions. If they want to win, they will try and re-create a weekday newscast. (Above post about Denver is a good example, they use their regular weekday anchors on Sunday nights). I understand the local tv news world is changing, but I still will be attracted to a co-anchor newscast on a weekend, as opposed to a solo. Unfortunately, this is becoming extinct in many markets, both big and small.

It's split in this market. KMBC operates on a Sunday-Thursday schedule for its main talent. We (WDAF-TV) do not. Every station, when at full strength, uses two anchors on the weekend evening newscasts.

KSHB and KCTV5 on Weekends for Mornings and Evenings one Anchor. Know for your Station Rob was off last night and didn't have Farrell come back in to Co-Anchor with Pauley or ask Stewart or Low to come in and fill in.

If one of them is a pretty woman I'm sure that attracts viewers. You still probably want an authoritative man too.

WCCB Charlotte NC has their weeknight meteorologist work on Sunday night at 10 (there is no 6:00 newscast on any night). The weekend meterologist works Friday night and maybe Thursday night. I don't know which anchors work when because I only watch the weather.
when they went to the CW, Reg Taylor works M-F and Jacinda Garabito does Saturday and Sunday.
I must have missed that.

The networks are more hardcore World News oriented than anything whereas the local newscasts are more like the local crime report with news that breaks faster than it does on the networks

Now the cable nets OTOH are World News oriented WITH breaking news but even that takes longer to break because it takes the networks longer than the local stations to get enough facts straight to take it to air. Due to the obvious availability of resources, local stations don't have that hurdle

Cheers & 73 ;D

WKRN, news 2 here in Nashville, has two weekend anchors, Najahe (pronounced nah-zhah) Sherman and John Dwyer. Dwyer has been with them for many years, and once was the sports anchor.

Across town at WSMV, channel 4, Alan Frio solos on the weekend newscasts nowadays, but his wife, Terry Merryman, used to co-anchor with him.
