When I was talking about some of the music I questioned, it is when I hear Sting/The Police, Phil Collins, and a few other arttists. If you have ever heard "Watercolors" XM 71, they seem to stay consistant with the core smooth jazz artists... Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Crusaders, Paul Hardcastle, etc. I just wished "The Wave" would stick more to that than playing as much R&B/AC as they do. But, I also realize that is part of the broad appeal of the station.
And as much as I like Marc Sherman at Sunny, the station has lost it's luster. They have fallen into the "current/recurrent" trend that a lot of AC stations have gone to (and it has hurt most of them). Sunny hasn't been affected by it yet, but they sound like a totally different station than it did when I moved here in 1998, and the change is not for the better.
I tried to do the same thing as you when 97.5 was still R&B. I tried to get businesses who had Majic 102 on to flip to Power 97.5. However, the signal problem was too much for some. However, I did get positive responses from some businesses on the East Side of town. With "Power" now gone, they've probably switched back to 102.
