WHLD-AM Buffalo Switching to Air America

The word "amateur" being used to describe hosts/employees of AAR? Unheard of.

when I called AAR and envision the impression I got was that they were aware of the situation and were working to correct it. They weren't responding to my call, they were already trying to fix it. Why it happened or how it happened your guess is as good as mine.

they are. I pay for the time with pledges from listeners and have for the last two years. Listen to the show and it's perfectly obvious. I've even said as much on the air when raising money. WHLD is all brokered all the time and has been for years.

It's my guess that AAR jumped the gun and someone at Citadel wasn't exactly ready for this. I'd bet that WHLD will end up using AAR early in 2006 to fill in the "non brokered" hours. Makes sense to me.

I appreciate the clarification. I put your login name in quotes because I don't know who you are or what the situation is, and I'm not in the market, so I haven't heard your on-air pitches.

Now, question...is it possible any AAR programming will show up on WHLD in 2006? Even as filler in the brokered time schedule?

So, Buffalo gets AAR on a fairly decent signal, and it won't displace Oldies at WWKB (as had been speculated). Not a bad deal. Though I'm sure AAR would have loved to get Franken and Company on another flamethrower like WINZ or WSAI....

I think the station will find it's niche. It may draw a few listeners from WBEN's syndie programming, but I suspect most of it's listeners will be ones who don't normally listen to WBEN's brand of syndie talk (and switch from 930 promptly upon hearing Rush's dulcet tones), or are currently getting AAR from other sources (streaming, XM, DirecTV). I'd expect somewhere between 1.0 and 2.0, depending on marketing (or lack of it).
