Bring back Nick Summers from KJOY 94.1 Soft and Easy!

Bring back J.B. MItchell from 13K he is the most talented man to ever sit behind a microphone, or to install the mic!
I thought Nick was working back on the east coast now?

Thanks!

123kgb & Garrett, thanks a million! It's nice to be remembered.

Nope, not back East. I'm in Los Angeles doing VO. I also do Sat & Sun afternoons on KKJZ 88.1 in Long Beach (formerly KLON) hosting "Nothin' But The Blues" using the name Nick Gerard. It's one of the most enjoyable gigs I've ever had - playing music that I'm passionate about to an equally passionate and enthusiastic audience!

Soft and Easy K-Joy never really got off the ground, but I did have some good times there - notably when they sent me to London to broadcast live from the Abbey Road studio on the 30th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper. That was pretty amazing. Coe also went and did the broadcast for KGB.

Garrett, I remember you well from the short time we worked together. You struck me as a true radio enthusiast.

Thanks again for the mention, guys.

Mark In La Manana

Mark was on the air in Phoenix last year - any idea what he's doing now? I lost his email when I had a hard drive crash in the spring.

I favor the characters, the story tellers, and the art of the guys like Royce Johnson,
who work work together with Ron Renia & Ralph Lawler to do incredibly warm, fun
radio which didn't depend on a format. I miss those guys. I just wish air-checks
existed, because they were in my opinion the best of San Diego radio, period.

Chris: He was a friend of mine, and yea if you screwed with him he'd kick your ass, no doubt
about it. No phony macho pretense, he scared the crap out of all the wimps at CLear CHannel.

I didn't hear Rod until the late 90's when I moved to San Diego. As a standards enthusiast, I loved hearing Rod evenings on KPOP. He had a real one-to-one way of communicating with listeners. His knowledge of and passion for the music and performers of the Great American Songbook shone through. It was great to hear an "old school" music host like Rod on SD radio in an era where that type of presentation was rapidly becoming passe.

Rod was a genius in every sense of the word... and shot a great game of hoops, too.

I loved his midnight sets at KFMB. It seemed the adult beverages (probably single malt) flowed like Frank over the airwaves. KFMB was stereo AM then, and I had the Sony portable receiver ... it sounded beautiful.

He never phoned a show in; he dripped of knowledge and expertise in a rat-pack sort of way. Great pipes, too. The car dealer in Escondido spots stand out.

Yep, Rod Page, old friend, is greatly missed.
