So,just who has the most RF voltage going to your radio? The higher elevation Mt Soledad, or the lower, slightly
higher power south S.D. sites @101.5/93.3 and 97.3/106.5? My Kearney location is equidistant to Soledad and
the KGB. The HP Spectrum Analyzer is fed with a 1/4 wave vertical, 29 in. at 98mhz.,span is 88-108mhz.
Highest to lowest; #1. 101.5/93.3-tie #5. 99.7-T.J. #9. 91.7 T.J.
#2. 97.3 #6. 89.5
#3. 94.1 #7. 102.9
#4. 96.5 #8. 104.5(T.J.),105.3-tie
Apparently, the Soledads' higher antennas are beaming towards a further horizon, and the max power field is further away than 7.5 miles. And, of course, a change of test location will have different results. Anomolies=106.5
was below 97.3 and all of Soledad stns. 104.9/105.7, equal power neighbors,104.9 was a lot weaker. 91.7, a hair stronger than 91X. 2kw 89.5 was a surprise.
FCC regs. had mandated a change in the downward RFR, and as a result, the closer, downward field strength
has been greatly reduced; the lower antennas of 101.5/93.3 offer higher millivolts, locally.
