Who is Flipping first???

I enjoy Movin 107.5, but ouch 1.3.
Live 105.3 is in serious trouble.
Jack is stuggling.
The Eagle is already struggling.

Do you wait for PPM to come out at this point or flip before? Hmmm what a struggle to hold out for something better.

I feel a new Country station is being thought about seriously at either CBS or CC right now. If I were CBS I would be shocked if they are not seriously considering flipping one of it's struggling station to Top 40 at this point. I mean with Atom Smasher on the loose, Kaden and Gina Lee I think CBS would have the beginning of a serious line up to go head to head with Kiss.

Your Thoughts...now is the time for a third Country while both the others are in the midst of changes.

By flip do you mean change formats? What are the numbers for Jack and 105.3 you mentioned the 1.3 for that one station. I say bring back Y95.

The Eagle just brought back that brand, so they're not going anywhere. Plus with Chris Ryan calling the shots, I see nothing but improvement for that station. Jack costs practically nothing to run, so it wouldn't make sense to tip that applecart. Live 105.3 could cut a ton of cost by blowing out their overpaid staff, but it would be an easier transition to flip Movin' 107.5 to total CHR. They would need a stronger morning show to compete with Kiss though.

I say CBS should try that "Hot" format that they have in Houston on 107.5 or 105.3.

Heres my quick take:

105.3: Filpping to a alt rock format (hopefully)q1 2009. They've taken heavly losses with P&Ks departure, BDH getting a syndie deal with rick dees, jagger and his whole jilted queen act, not to mention the RMS affair. All can be laid at the feet of gavin spittle, who doesnt know the concept of hands off managment. The guy is worse than Pig Vomit. Enoughs been said about him, so I wont beat down his radio abortion stylings anymore than I have to.

Jack: Probably will stay the same format, but may see on-air personalities or a morning show.

Movin: Potential flip to Americana format in 2009, as they're surveying people on that at present. If this is the case, I welcome it. We need more divergent formats in Dallas that arent copycats of what other cities have.

You have GOT to be kidding - talk about an over saturated market - I get country bumpkin hillbilly music on:

FM: 92.1, 93.1, 95.3, 96.3, 99.5, and various incarnations of "The Ranch" as I drive around different areas of the metroplex and 99.9 out of Waco is strong in the SW part of the metroplex, plus a lot more in the 93's and 95's on occasion.

AM: 960, 1110, 1130, 1140, 1230, 1250, 1340, 1420, 1550, 1560, 1580, and a lot of other weaker signals

How many freakin' country stations do you need????? Sheesh - more of them than Spanish language stations. Frankly, I'd love to have that many frequencies devoted a format I like - but it will never happen because the conventional wisdom seems to be "low ratings? go country" / "go Spanish language" / "go talk". There is only so much audience around for any of those three, why can't somebody try something different for a change!

Rev., I'm with you on this one.

I think one day soon, someone at CBS wakes up and says, "hey, why do we keep killing ourselves with the personality issues at live, the lack of personality at jack, movin, kvil...and go take some share from the only unique station left in the market...Kiss". I think they are going to smarten up and put a chr station to compete, i mean a top 40 based chr, not some kiis/ kkda hybrid...the only question is...Which station do they take out to do it? My bet is live...gavin has sufficiently destroyed that bad boy.

Like I was saying, KLLI is a loss-leader right now, you have a manager whos put the whole place into a tailspin and talent whos either bailing or will soon. Either flipping to Americana or Alt Rock will be better than whats going on now...

I don't see how you can do that...Jack is a cbs property, any rock format would affect them. Then, you have the eagle, the edge, zps and the bone...kind of crowded, dontcha think?

Depending on what way the wind blows up gavins skirt, we may get volcano worshipper chants. But, I think we'd benefit from either an americana/texicana format(Drive By Truckers, Old Crow Med. Show, Wilco) or something closer to a KGSR...either way, we'd be better off for it in this town.

I'm with you on that one - I've driven across the country and heard real CHR to-40 stations, what a relief it would be to have one here. I think it would rate right up there with kiis / kkda and capture a splendid audience. It works in other metro areas, it can work here.

Every day i thank Jebus for that crazy tranny genius that invented Sirius. Its ALL there, The Americana, The Alt, The "hot" and you dont have to weed thru the likes of the Kid Kradicks, the Mondo Mikes, The Kellys & Michael Irvins to find it.

Absolutley, ST!! When all else fails (like it has been lately) it's nice to throw on my Stilletto and hear whatever I want. SIRIUS/XM is the future of radio.. Period.

what's failing is sirius/xm. It's been almost 10 years and they haven't come CLOSE to a profit. Watch the channels fade away....selections dwindle....CONSOLIDATION between the 2 companies. Mel's a businessman. It ain't worked in 10 years...they got him to fix it. Watch for 6 months then tell me again it's "all about content".....

Crazy Tranny like Norman Bates or Buffalo Bill from "Silence Of The Lambs"??

I couldn't live without my XM. BPM (Dance), Watercolors (Smooth Jazz), Lucy (90's Alt), Fred (Classic Alt), Ethel (Alt), Flight 26 (90's & Now)... Things you just don't get on DFW FM.

Its going to get stronger with the merger. I figure they will only cut the duplicate stations. Everyone who gets set up with either XM or Sirius, falls in love with it It really is the future, and for like $0.50 a day to NOT have to get the "****** chills" stumbling across one of my previous mentioned jocks... Its worth every penny.

and i would say more like the Buffalo Bill type tranny...its true But he/she is a real genius working in microbiotics now

They said the same thing about FM radio as they did about Satellite radio. AM is still around, and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere either.

I have a feeling they'll be some merger and culling when it comes to the channels, Lucy/Lithium, Fred/1st wave and Ethel /Alt Nation will probably merge in the process and their staffs will be trimmed down, Id also rather have Area 38 than BPM as they run Vonyc Sessions and DRI.
