Over the past few months there have been many postings from a person calling himself "HD_Ready", who fancies IBOC radio as the next best thing to come since sliced bread. Hey, if "HD" is so GOOD, why not show who you really are so that your pro-HD radio statements hold a little bit more creedence. I have personally heard so-called "HD" audio on several stations with an IBOC receiver and found the audio to be somewhat "shrill" and similar to the best satellite DAB signal from XM or Sirius. And sometimes, it has a somewhat "internet" sound to it. I was not impressed. Maybe the technolgy still has some kinks in it. Fine. But I find it very irritating to not be able to listen to some first or second adjacent channel stations within their Grade B contour due to a very wideband IBOC signal interfering with it. IBOC is SUPPOSED to be limited to +/- 200 kHz bandwidth. I've seen some with IBOC interference over 600 kHz beyond the center channel.
So, Mr. (or Ms.) "HD_Ready", do you work for the industry? Just simply tell us who you are and why should I spend about $500 to hear digitized audio.
Inquiring minds want to know.........
