Who IS "HD_Ready"?

Over the past few months there have been many postings from a person calling himself "HD_Ready", who fancies IBOC radio as the next best thing to come since sliced bread. Hey, if "HD" is so GOOD, why not show who you really are so that your pro-HD radio statements hold a little bit more creedence. I have personally heard so-called "HD" audio on several stations with an IBOC receiver and found the audio to be somewhat "shrill" and similar to the best satellite DAB signal from XM or Sirius. And sometimes, it has a somewhat "internet" sound to it. I was not impressed. Maybe the technolgy still has some kinks in it. Fine. But I find it very irritating to not be able to listen to some first or second adjacent channel stations within their Grade B contour due to a very wideband IBOC signal interfering with it. IBOC is SUPPOSED to be limited to +/- 200 kHz bandwidth. I've seen some with IBOC interference over 600 kHz beyond the center channel.

So, Mr. (or Ms.) "HD_Ready", do you work for the industry? Just simply tell us who you are and why should I spend about $500 to hear digitized audio.

Inquiring minds want to know.........

Well I guess he's still too afraid to identify himself. My guess is he's probably an engineer, or someone else working for a group of stations running IBOC, maybe Entercom?

It doesn't matter. He doesn't need to identify himself just like I don't.
The nice thing about this board is the anonimitity.
Jeff, you know who I am, as we've talked several times, and in fact I'll drop you an email tonight.

but back on subject, you don't have to work in the industry to like HD radio, and he doesn't need to feel forced to disclose who he is.

End of topic.

No its not the end of topc. For the same reasons you give that "HD Ready" doesn't have to ID himself Jeff, myself, PG or anyone can keep asking HD about his ID. You see we just feel he lacks any credibility here. He posts about HD being the next thing since sliced bread and then attacks our comments about our distate for it without any real discussion (very childlike IMHO) I'm on many radio lists (in fact I own one) and have had many intelligent discussions about HD. The fact of the matter is that HD Ready couldn't survive on any of those boards without backing up his talk with facts and relevant information about his backing of HD. One final thought if you don't want to ID yourself thats fine but I think in many cases it just shows someone doesn't have the courage of their convictions.

I get fewer commercials than you and a better play list (12.95 > $500 commercial riddled bad playlist radio)

What facts would you like to know about HD Radio? I have installed and listened to a number of HD markets, including HD2 stations. I am also a DXer and have had a number of conversations with radio people as well as DXers.

There is so much MIS information going on about HD Radio. Lets see if we can get soem facts out there instead of spreading rumors. If you have questions about HD Radio, head over to the HD Radio board. There are plenty of people ther to help out.

Why are you folks ripping on this guy?

For those who MUST know who I am a little digging will give you all of the info you need. I am not hiding, just having some fun ;-)

I'm not buying a $299 Hd Radio just for more music.Regular radio is fine with me.

Of course I know who you are. You posted your defense of HD on ABDX (which I'm also a member). You basically told everyone on the list that we didn't know what we were talking about when it comes to IBOC hash and FM dxng. I posted back my hands on evidence on how it affects me as an avid FM dxer. When both Harry and I pointed out that we've had real experiences with IBOC interference you saw fit not to respond to us. I also invited you to join the WTFDA and talk to some our members about this. Have you???
