Who might buy KFNC 97.5 and KHJK 103.7

with these two stations, KFNC 97.5 and KHJK 103.7 being shopped...who do you think will be interested in buying them, who do you think will buy them, and what format do you think will they end up, if they change at all?
I will be sad to see KHJK change formats since it plays a lot of music that you can't hear anywhere else on the dial now.

Even though Cumulus apparently doesn't have an inside track to getting the stations, I expect Cumulus to take them back into the fold. An even better question, though, would be what will happen to KRBE if Cumulus doesn't end up with KFNC and KHJK. Would they keep it as a standalone station, or would they try to swap it with someone else, like Cox, for some other stations?

More likely than not the stations would wind up back under Cumulus, although I would love to know who else is bidding. SBS was rumored to be interested some months back. Might also keep an eye on EMF.

The ad sale numbers for 97.5 vs. 103.7 are quite surprising, with SportsTalk triple that of AAA. The current format on KHJK is probably headed to the scrap heap, regardless of who buys the station.

Best scenario might be for the stations to go to separate owners. Would Cumulus then exit the market and unload KRBE? That would be a real bidding war.

If KHJK goes away, that will be the nail in the coffin for Houston radio. Looks like I'll be installing a new unit in my car so I can stream music off my phone.

You don't even need to install a new unit in your car. I bought a $40 FM transmitter that plugs into my cigarette lighter from Best Buy!

$40? You can find it cheaper at Ross!

How much money do you think Liberman has put aside considering the recent sell off of KXGJ-FM and KJOJ? Something tells me they will be the company leading the pack of potential suitors for KFNC and KHJK.

If they flip, they can go urban CONTEMPORARY (not MAINSTREAM or AC leaning) and take a piece of pie from KBXX and KMJQ and revive it back on one half of the freqency (97.5) while introducing it on the other half (103.7). Cumulus did try to get a better frequency for KRWP right before the Houston Cumulus cluster switched management and eliminated that choice.

Why would you bring back a station (Power 97.5) that failed? And why would you simulcast it on two rimshots that have virtually the same coverage area and the same signal issues?

Liberman would simulcast La Raza on 97.5 and 103.7 before they would flip back to Power 97.5 LOL. Or, their Balia format. I think they should go back to their original COL. Reason being is they are too close to stronger frequencies in Houston proper.

Radio continues down the path to irrelevance. Just return 103.7 and 97.5 back to LaPorte and Beaumont.

Willis, not LaPorte, my man. That's where 103.7 originated. Having said that, it ain't gonna happen.

I hope CBS buys them so they can put a KLUV type station on the air here on one of them.

The absolute LAST thing Houston needs is yet another foreign language station. I would think that every conceivable Spanish language listener is served by all the ones we already have. What could possibly be the point of further dividing up a market that is already over saturated with more foreign language stations?
