WHO WILL GO ALL-CHRISTMAS FIRST? WODS OR WROR?

Of course it will prob. start after Veteran's Day, as it has in the past. Hey, they make money doing it
and there is an audience who loves it. That audience does not include me, and count me out for listening to any station that goes to Christmas that early. Maybe a week or two before Christmas I might start tuning in.
And believe me, if it didn't make them lots of money they wouldn't be so eager to start so early.

If they switched to all Christmas and the ratings stunk during Nov. as a result, they would stop doing it so early....

I mentioned the idea setup. start sprinkling it on November 1st (TUESDAY) one an hour the first week then two an hour more as the month progresses with full tilt AFTER Thanksgiving

Actually, most stations that do the all Christmas thing tend to go down in the ratings when they flip in November. However, it doesn't matter because most of the airtime is sold, especially for stations that do it every year. Then once December hits, the spike is so pronounced it more than makes up for any losses in revenue in November. Besides, you don't want to lose the All Christmas positioning to a competitor by flipping too late. That's why WODS and WROR flip within minutes of eachother every year.

Think it will be tonight or tomorrow morning? WODS is already promoting a Christmas promotion and teasing with Christmas too, but not yet. Should be interesting how it all plays out.

I don't think either station who cares who goes first as they are setup to switch over as soon as the other station does. They switch within minutes of one another.

I double dog dare 'ROR and 'ODS to hold off until between 11:59 p.m. on Thanksgiving Night and 12:01 a.m. on Black Friday! They can start at the same time!

Last night during the Whiner Line on WEEI, someone did a song parody of Silver Bells. Ordway observed it was the first Christmas song parody of the year for them. Michael Holley said something like "they're
already running all holiday music on two stations" or something. Huh? "Well, on at least one of 'em",
Holley clarified. I checked out WODS and WROR and neither are running Christmas/holiday music.
Visits just now to both websites proved they haven't flipped yet--BUT WODS has a contest in which
listeners can pick when they think the flip will happen, and I guess there's a kind of prize to whoever
comes closest. (Kind of like Howie's Death Pool)

Not sure what Holley was talking about. Did he mean a station had flipped already in BOSTON, or is
there a station down in Prov. or something that already flipped? Deck the Halls with Boughs of
Michael Holley.

Maybe he tuned in during the snow a few days back and some station was playing ONE Christmas/
holiday song (Let it snow?) and he thought they had flipped.
In past years it was right around Veteran's Day. (5 days before THAT in '08!)

Example, from Nov of 2008 (written by me for Boston Radio Blog)

After Election Day Comes Christmas
(Nov 6, 2008):
>>"Chri$tma$ has 2 s's in it and they're both dollar signs," observed Stan
Freberg in "Green Chri$tma$". Quite true. Earlier today WROR FM 105.7
shifted to an all-Yule format and WODS FM 103.3 quickly followed suit.

I read on facebook that WSRS has flipped to Xmas. If this is true, maybe them?

I read it on facebook tonight too and put it up on Twitter, WSRS was running Christmas during Delilah tonight. I'm not sure if they're just on the Delilah Christmas feed, but I'm sure if they're running her Christmas feed they're on all-Christmas themselves.

Yup, they did, according to their website it was 5:05am. According to WROR.com, WROR just flipped minutes ago at 5:45. WODS is now playing Do They Know It's Christmas.

I'm done with both. Unfortunately, this year, I don't have Mike-FM to fall back on. :'(

Goodbye WODS & WROR-FM from my presets. See you December 26th...maybe. Now what to put in their places? 12 presets for F.M. are about 10 too many!

Ditto here, figured it would be about now. Admittedly I played the Royal Guardsmen's "Snoopy's Christmas" (at the request of the host Doug Mascott) on WMWM Sunday but that was ONE SONG
not a whole format. I really couldn't get into it on the whole till after Thanksgiving. I could try to find
a replacement like WOKQ 97.5 country or something
