Doesn't matter to me, with the option of Satellite radio, I could care less who starts when...

I will not be stuck with what's on corporate owned radio.

So, you must subscribe to a satellite radio service that's not corporate owned. Which service?

Sirius/XM. I don't subscribe, but I am trying it out. I have used it in rental cars. It's amazing.

I have said this before, and I'll say it again. I have 3 XM receivers and it costs me a little over 300 bucks a year to keep them all up and running, including a weather/traffic option in one car, and it is the best entertainment expenditure I make, without exception.

The minute any broadcast station goes all Christmas, they get deleted from my presets, and I spend more time listening to XM

Well, let's start a new thread-which radio station will broadcast an All-Halloween format leading up to October 31st. itself? Is there such a thing as a radio station that plays all Halloween music? Will this year be the first?
Let's hear it!

I have an idea.

Starting Nov 1st play ONE CMAS tune an hour and only one.

Come Nov 8th up it to 2 then on the 15th 3.

Nov 22nd will bring 4 an hour up till midnight Weednesday.

Thanksgiving Day will be totally Christmas music free then Friday morning at 6 go full tilt. and NOT BEFORE

Watch them go full tilt on the 12th :(

What do I want for Christmas this year? Thanksgiving

Not that many songs to choose from... "Monster Mash"... "Ghostbusters"... songs with the words "scared" or "spooky" in the title... and imaging by Nancy Pelosi... ::)

Pelosi! :D

Ooh, Thriller too! That should eat up a few minutes!

I like Thriller, but I can't stand Vincent Price's creepy laugh at the end. When I play it at The Club I try to pot it down and start the next song before the laugh comes. We don't get a lot of requests for Thriller so I'm still not sure exactly how many seconds are left when the laugh comes, so sometimes I don't react quick enough to kill the laugh. Sometimes when I'm at The Club on Thursdays one of two nights I'm not helping out in the DJ booth, the DJ who's on duty on Thursdays plays a big Michael Jackson Mash-Up and that laugh comes in the middle of the Mash-Up. That laugh always sends a shiver down my spine. *Shudders*

On the vinyl record (album, maybe single too?) version of that isn't it in an endless groove
(the Price laugh?) so it keeps going on...

My station is actually in a Halloween-themed place--Salem MA (and with WESX changing its COL
to Nahant we are the only station in Salem--OK, other than a religious translator that started recently). On Halloween day I'm co-hosting a show and the reg.host will go out with his cell
phone, call in, and talk to people out on the street--fortune tellers, pumpkin sellers, etc. I may have
some Halloween themed tunes like I Put a Spell On You, Monster Mash, The Cockroach that Ate
Cincinnati, anything to do with witches etc.

Memo to chitchatjf, on Thanksgiving Day itself, the radio stations should steer clear of Christmas music and play inspirational and patriotic songs for 24 hours between Midnight Thanksgiving Eve and Midnight Thanksgiving Night. They can resume Christmas music at that time. After all, Thanksgiving has become a forgotten holiday, so let's give it back its due! ::)

Here! Here! Thanksgiving is becoming like the Rodney Dangerfield holidays (Veterans' Day, Columbus Day et al).

The powers that be just haven't figured out a way to make money on it yet.

someone allready did that last october in st louis on 100.3 only to go all christmas @ 12am on november 1st

Five+ years ago I might be able to see it (Nov.1). But these aren't good times. An early flip is offensive. Reminding consumers--while heading off to buy $3/gallon gas--they don't have as much.
Black Friday seems reasonable-- won't happen-- so I'd expect the Wed. prior to Thanksgiving week.

Actually, with what Thanksgiving is known for today, they may as well run an endless loop of the "NFL On Fox" theme... ::)

For me the thread should read Which Station Gets Deleted From My Presets First. I like Christmas and Christmas music, but I'm not quite in the mood for it around Veteran's Day. Hey,
stores got a right to sell stuff and I'm all for capitalism, but let's just say my mp3 player will get a lot more use once the ho-ho-holiday stuff starts...

Not Boston-area, however according to Fybush.com

"Three NERW-land stations tied for the title of "first all-Christmas flips" when they kicked off November by going 24/7 holiday music: in the Albany market, both Clear Channel's WTRY (98.3 Rotterdam) and Townsquare's WBZZ (105.7 Malta, now "Santa 105.7") made the flip Monday morning, as did Equity Communications' WEZW (93.1 Wildwood Crest) on the Jersey shore. "

WOW!
