DING! I think you'll see some other changes in the market by the weekend. Uh oh.... did I just suggest something else is about to happen? ;D

Here's my prediction.... the Monsters and the BS show move to JRR.... Hedinger, Beck and Rush to 104.1, Philips stays.... does anyone in the market carry Savage?

One problem with ''Philips Stays" ...if/when the above occurs, Philips retires.

What a shame---another right-wing hatetalk station on FM...

agreed.

Furthermore, why is this necessary ? WDBO does extremely well as has for years. Someone please explain......cant be simply for a ''bump in the ratings''

Maybe they got wind of an impending change regarding 104.1 and decided to beat Clear Channel to the punch. If CC did re-tool Real Radio as an FM News/Talk, an AM-only DBO would be dead in 6 months or less.

Cox is hard set to have the same situations in multiple markets. Retooled classic rock stations, FM simulcasts of their AM heritage talkers, Eagle stations in every market, etc. Was this one even an Orlando management decision?? :) WHTQ going online-only has "upper management decision" written all over it. In my opinion...
local management wouldn't opt to keep the brand going online, nor would they even flip 96.5 to the WDBO simulcast.

Honestly, Clark Howard in stereo? Boortz in stereo? Might work in Gainesville for SKY, but ... really? Does Orlando really need Hannity in FM stereo in PM drive? Who's really going to enjoy the Magic in stereo any more than they would tolerate a radio play-by-play in AM? I see no win here.

Adding a superior FM signal in the metro area plus 24 hour static free coverage in Volusia, Brevard, Osceola, Lake, and Polk Counties? Yeah, that's winning. The current AM 580 can't do that. I'm wondering why they're waiting till Friday. WHTQ doesn't seem like a station that really needs a week to sign off. Imaging is still rolling along as in "The NEW 96 Rock". UNLESS.... Cox just got wind of changes up the dial and this was a decision made in the last few days. Maybe they're scrambling. Only thing I can imagine is they're quickly re-producing imaging for WDBO... NOW on 96.5.

They may have to await "Clearance" on those synicated shows...I know WNDB runs Hannity Delayed 6-9 PM and at one point when WNDB was on FM in Daytona COX Prevented WNDB-FM from carrying Rush Limbaugh which at the time DBO was running on a one hour tape delay from 1-4PM while WNDB-AM has always aired Rush Live 12-3PM. Will be interesting to see if Black Crow says wait "We have an exclusive to broadcast Hannity in Volusia County".

Bubba's already been dropped from the station and their website. Gee I wonder why they would not let him say goodbye to his Orlando listeners ;D His show was also dropped in Jacksonville too. According to WHTQ's website the station is supposed to be at a car dealership this Saturday. Maybe they should pull that considering they will no longer exist.

They can say it all they want, Hannity is on several other Cox stations.... it would be a very short conversation.

WSKY is mono. I am not sure if any of those shows are in stereo. WHTQ just might go mono---I think it enhances coverage.

I for one would like to hear a sporting event in FM stereo. Just to hear the virtual crowd.....

I don't live there, so I'd have to listen during a long drive up there.

If 96 Rock is just going online only, then what's going to be on 96.5-HD2, where WDBO currently is?

wow I remember when WHTQ came on the air and gave WDIZ a heart attack. You've got love corporate America.

They played all Beatles after flipping from WHOO (Country) then If memory serves me right was'nt their first song like Midnight on a Friday Night "Thin Lizzy-The Boys Are Back In Town". Back in the 80's everyone had Q96 Stickers on their cars & trucks.

Its a shame the just handed 3 share points and probably $1,000,000 to WJRR. I hope they can sell WDBO on he FM to make up for the WHTQ $$

COX seems to be selling HTQ listeners on MMO,doubt it will work and not all HTQ listeners are going to be happy with JRR,should be interesting to see where HTQ's 40-54 Year Old Males land.

For the older listeners probably Sunny and WMMO. Or Classic Rockers from other markets.

The problem with Sunny is an automatic station change when they hear any of those pop hits. ( Disco, Lighter 80's Music, 60's Pop) WMMO would be just as hard mainly only focusing on Soft Rock. There are a few former HTQ songs mixed in but it isn't enough. None of the less its only the softer 70's rock playing on MMO. I mean what kind of Classic Rock fan would listen through Adele, No Doubt and John Mayer just to get to some Elton John and America.

I mean where is the AC/DC, 80'S Hair Bands and all the stuff a typical Cox Classic Rocker would play.

I guess Cox would just give up on that demo. Figuring the ratings suck anymore. Maybe Cox would figure out what to do with "The Bone" in Tampa. Can't live on Bubba and Cowhead forever.
