WHTT ADDS 90s

I believe that our "resident station owner" in Buffalo can answer that better. There is, however, no blanket tax restriction on Canadian stations selling in the US that I know of. In many border markets to the south, Mexican stations behave just like US stations selling in El Paso or San Diego or Laredo or McAllen/Brownsville and other locations.
WECK is the exclusive Buffalo selling partner of CFLZ and CJED. The border crossing closure has really hurt. CFLZ has a Dec cume of about 46k, which adds nice to WECKS 80000 cume. But until the border reopens, it’s a tough sell.

You can listen over the air in border areas, like Buffalo NY. Online, not unless you have a VPN and use a Canadian web address. It's actually a very good station, well produced and presented.

What helps is that Boom's signal(power listed at 28.9 kW)uses the CN Tower as its transmitter. That's why it has a much larger footprint, signal-wise. (9 other Toronto radio stations use the CN Tower as its transmitter, as do virtually all of its TV stations; most of the rest use First Canadian Place as their transmitter-CFNY & CILQ have backup transmitters at First CP.)

As to Boom veing a very good station: Due credit for that goes to Stingray, who owns the station. They have a mostly all live and local air staff(granted, Toronto is the #1 market in Canada)...and from AM drive to nights three of their air personalities have either worked at other stations in the market(Maie Pauts was at CFNY for MANY years, while KJ was at 92.5 when it was country-then switched to top 40 Kiss FM the first time around; Stu Jeffries was the host of CBC's music video Good Rockin' Tonite), so it gives them recognizability in the market. They have the Behind the Vinyl podcast(which has artists talking about their hit songs & how they came to be; episodes are also on YouTube and their website. Plus, add to that Joe Cipriano as the voice of Boom.

I should also note that Stingray also owns Giant FM(CIXL-FM)in Welland, Ont. Though they have a classic rock format, they're also live and local for the most part; Kristy Knight(better known as KK)is the most notable on-air staffer they have-she worked for MANY years at CHTZ(97.7 HTZ FM)

As far as More goes...one thing I like is that during the recent stay-at-home order announced by Ontario, one of the station's higher-ups did a liner telling businesses "If you need to do advertising on our station explaining what you do and any modifications you've made to your business, turn to us. We can help get the word out AND we can change the ad as situations dictate." Would that more stations followed that example.

Boom is a good station. It's well-staffed and programmed. But aside from the radio geeks who post here and the few general population listeners who listen, the station generates a very low AQH Persons. Mostly diaries notations are found in Niagara and northern Erie county. Boom does very little in the States. It's insignificant. Giant is a go-to tertiary station, a diversion from 97 Rock, but like Boom, Giant does very little in the States. As to the pandemic assist liner on More, similar liners, albeit with different wording, were heard on Buffalo stations.
