Why did Giles Snyder and Louise Schiavone swap places?

Snyder has been the usual person doing top of the hour news during "Weekend Edition" as well as saying "with these headlines" 20 minutes before and 20 minutes after. Schiavone took over at 11. Today it was the reverse.

Snyder commutes from West Virginia (if he's anchoring from the studios and not from home).

Perhaps he had a personal 'thing' last night that precluded the middle of the night commute and found someone to trade shifts with him.

Giles Snyder has been missing for several weeks. Where is he?

I have a theory he might be substituting during the week but I never think to listen then.

Giles was filling in for Korva Coleman at least a few mornings last week.

Yes, weekdays during Morning Edition.

Geez, i manage an NPR station and i dont even pay attention or care about this minutia :)

Well, when you get used to a certain voice, you notice. This man has a very distinctive voice and it makes a difference if he's not there. The other (female) anchors all sound pretty much alike, while the one male anchor I've noticed also has quite a distinctive voice. He sounds like he should be a DJ or news anchor in the 1950s.

However, Mr. Snyder does file reports for the NPR newscast unit during the week from time to time. Not sure if he does so from West Virginia, but I suspect he holds a full-time position already.

He's worked weekend for almost two decades.
As I mentioned above, he commutes in from WV. A 5-day a week gig may not be his desire.
The first time I ever heard him was when I started listening to "Weekend Edition" on Sunday so I wouldn't miss the start of "Car Talk". I guess that has been close to two decades.
