Why is Rock 93-9 struggling?

Ah, SALES REVENUE....Finally getting into a subject I can appreciate. Of course,what do I know,I was once a night-time dj.......
 
Hey TZ, that's ironic. I was a night-time dj as well. But once you get to be a part of the other side of the business, you can really appreciate it all.
 
I listened to Rock 939 on the skip last night. The problem is not the DJ'S its the music. Playlist needs to me much larger! Plus what I heard sounded to much like CHR.

Apparently that really bothers you, as you continue to dwell on it. Fear not! The days of nightime deejayness are over for you.
 
Tz is just kidding Keem.....believe me, he is WAY over his night DJ days......fond memories for all, but as Tz and many others have, you evolve. Think of him as a sales guy with an on-air humor......I think anyone who knows him will concur. No matter what you do now, once you've held down an on-air shift, it'll always be in ya blood.......dats da way we roll

Figured he was having a problem following my point anyway,Doc. Guess that rolling eye thing makes it hard to focus....
 
ehhhh.
It's all in jest. I agree that most of us vets have been there done that, just fun to kick some dirt around from time to time. Give the kids something to read.

The revenue is still coming in from sales. So how can a station be considered struggling if it still bringing in money? Oh wait, because the always reliable Arbitron ratings said it was. And as far as talent in the region, as discussed above, well there are some questionable voices on the air. And by questionable, I am asking, "Who was so desperate to put these people on the air?"

Who is so desperate to put thos people on the air? Backyard Broadcasting. When I worked there, I got paid about half of what I get paid at my current broadcast job in the same market.
 
Normally, I would have left this comment alone, but it sounds exactly like you just slammed yourself. You said Backyard Broadcasting was so desperate that they hired you and had YOU on the air? LOL.
Well, I am still kinda new to the market, so I don't know all the history, but congrats on moving up I guess. And Backyard Broadcasting has been fairly good to me.

What I originally wrote here was almost inappropriate, so I had to delete it. To put it in a nutshell... I never said that I was on-air. There are many jobs in the radio/broadcast industry that have nothing to do with being on-air. I wasn't on-air there... but the pay scale was no secret. But you're right, thanks for the congratulations, I guess I have moved up. And now I am on-air.
 
Wow, no reason to be inappropriate olemissy. Didn't realize I was dealing with a "real talent" in this market. And just so I can see how talented you really are, let me sample some of your show. Please tell me when you're on the air and I will listen. I would to hear this!
I mean you do have a real show right? And I hope you're not voice-tracked. Please don't say you have to voice-track your show
 
Lousy control room set up. Cheap equipment. Bad Processing. Sounds like the studio is in bathroom somewhre.

Some really bad program direction. No talent development.
This station should be doing all sorts of weird shit for fun.

The "Morning Wood" show was just plain obnoxious, Lex and Terry was worse. Bob Rall was right. As far as the audio, I know AM stations that sound better that that. Heck, I used to have a CB in my truck that didn't sound half bad. Everyone on that station sounds like they are eating the microphones or they have the mike inside of a plastic bucket. Too tubby sounding. I was constantly having to adjust your bass and treble knobs on my radio trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. All the knob twisting in the world won't help. So I just change the station. Y-101 and 96.3 won't win the audio prize either. I guess I could forgive an AM station for being a little too loud because they are trying to drown out the static. But for goodness sakes engineers, haven't you ever heard that old song that goes..."FM-No Static at All"? You don't need to peg every meter into the red. You don't have to worry about drowning out the static on FM. I'm not even an engineer and I understand that.
 
I just tried to go to their website, and it's not coming up...

wonder what the deal is?
