[Sorry to be away from the board for a few days, so
this post is belated, but I can't pass up the chance
to comment...imagine that, so here goes:]

Well, you two haven't been elevated to my level, so stop
gloating!?! But keep trying. I'm sure you will get there.

A month or so MusicloverII bestowed upon me the sole honor
publicly posting that from that point on he would
never be responding back to my posts again. As to be expected,
that didn't last long. Keep on though, you'll get taken off
his Christmas card list like I did.

Hmmm. Wonder where people get these cocky attitudes?
As America's current most famous radio voice says:
(paraphrased) --- [I'm sure] "Jack@$$ will be back in a flash."

Any format you can create will have people that like it... or not.

The reason I hate it (the whole concept) is that it is a phony, corporate contrivance that fails to really deliver what it says it will and is just a rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic, so to speak.

And the "attitude" reeks of phoniness... the sign-on in NYC was unbelievably forced and phony. Arrgh! No doubt some people like it just fine, but it's not for me.

Hostility Against JACK FM?

So how do you explain listeners in markets all over America (except NYC) flocking to Jack stations in droves? It's a fact that radio listeners are more frustrated than ever with the repetition and staleness of radio in general AND more sensitive to the B.S., so if Jack is genuinely phony, listeners would have been over it long ago.

It could be (hope you're sitting down) that it seems phony to you but it's obviously a hit with radio listeners (who get Arbitron diaries). Their votes (with their listening) is the only thing that really counts.

As you say, "(except NYC)" ...

And how:

NY Post: "Jack Gets Sacked"

John Mainelli writes in the New York Post that New Yorkers have officially — and loudly — rejected "Jack," the controversial format that replaced beloved Oldies on WCBS-FM.

Jack formally debuted in 22nd place in Arbitron's summer ratings as the lowest-rated FM station. Just last winter, 'CBS-FM was in ninth place in its final full book as an Oldies station.

Speaking about Jack, New York radio legend and longtime WCBS Oldies jock "Cousin Brucie" Morrow predicted, "I don't think they've seen the bottom yet. It may go much lower."

No dispute... people like what they like... McDonald's sells a lot of burgers... I'm not buying, though.

1. It's only one book.

2. What about the demos?

3. What was Brucie's numbers before CBS-FM flipped?

It's just the Daily Rupert pandering to their constituency. If they could, they'd try to link Dan Rather to it, since Viacom owns Infinity and CBS.

As one New York department store owner once said to Murdoch, "You don't understand--your readers are our shoplifters."
