Why Isn't HLN Live On Weekends?

I'd close HLN, put Nancy Grace and Showbiz Tonight on CNN, use the remaining shows for CNN weekends, and turn HLN into a distribution spot for a beefed-up CNN International.

But, in cable, nonsense makes sense.

That was more of a sports-news network (i.e. what HLN was once known for, but all-sports), as opposed to a "worldwide leader contender" with sports programming.

So it went after ESPNEWS.

I just thought of something. CBS should ask Turner if they could make a deal where the new CBS Sports Network takes the place of HLN. Then making the new CBS Sports Network seen to a much bigger audience. Also Turner Sports would be part of this as both CBS Sports and Turner Sports are partners in the March Madness deal.

Turner Sports IS also in bed with Fox with MLB baseball. TBS is in one of the best positions on basic cable (on the cable dial AND in the industry) because it has its old superstation positioning but yet it is a modern cable network with Conan, MLB, and the NCAA. Only WGN America shares this positioning/sports mix, but its other programs (besides news) leave a lot to be desired.
