Why not rename this board....

I have to disagree. Many major broadcasters have "preferred vendors" who do not carry anything BUT Orban and Omnia. For a major purchase like an audio processor, you have to go thru these preferred vendors who do not offer alternative manufacturers. The playing field is not level and there have been many time where I wish it were easier to purchanse Brand X over Brand Y etc.

If it sounded good here, I could spam the entire site with ads for it without getting the posts deleted :)

Oh, and the fact my 9100A is almost dead. And my AM-19 is going haywire.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Hype?

Ah, if Omnia has made it to the preferred vendor's list, it did not happen by accident.

Also, there are fewer broadcasters who utilize preferred vendors as you think.

I would still try and get that repaired if it is close to death. There's still something special about the way that box sounds.

We'll miss your 9 contributions (as of your last post, if it is indeed your last).

Omnia or Orban is not the preferred vendor... Harris or BSW is the preferred vendor. Omnia or Orban is the product offered for sale by the preferred vendor.

Most majors use preferred vendors (I deal with this daily) and many smaller outfits usually like to copy what's going on (I have also dealt with this.. with questions like "what do you use". Usually I follow with "here is what I recommend". I've never had anyone complain about choices I have made for audio processing... that includes recommendations on Omnia, Orban and BW).

I re-capped our 9100A and it made it worse! AGC is about all we have left with the box. No money for the AM. I am so ashamed of the sound, is is awful and it is an Adult Standards format for the most part, with sports at night from the local pro teams. You could banner the sh*t out of this website and get away with it...LOL

Still, if the marketplace is as you claim it is, the products that these dealers support, did not get on their lists by accident. It took performance to do so.

Neither do I, I simply disagreed with something you said... and I think radioracle has a good point and the mods need to take this particular issue more seriously.

I'm sorry that you got the impression that I was targeting you. (guilty conscience?)

I personaly like having an engineering board. What I am majoring in is engineering not sure what kind but I am leanig more towards electrical. but this is where I get some of my hints from.

BrokeEngineer's story of a re-capped Optimod 9100A gone bad really makes me sympathetic. Radio is already hard enough on an audience without the processing adding to the angst. If you can't figure out what you did to it, call me and I will help you troubleshoot it or send it here and we'll try to fix it for free.Jim HusteTransLanTech Sound, LLCCreators of the Award-winning "Ariane Sequel Digital Audio Leveler"New York, New Yorkwww.translantech.com

Preferred vendor or not...if I could purchase my processing direct from Frank, I would. The Omnia is, and in my opinion, has always been since it's creation, the best sounding processor. I have said it before, and will say it again...I will place Omnia up against any processor on the market.

spoken like a true omnia soldier..but don't kid yourself.they're are serious contenders in the market including dspx, extra and the new extreme plus the inovonics omega and the orban products.eng in Los Angeles did side by side with 06 ex and the omega.was very impressed with the unit and alot less expensive than the o6ex.i run 2 boxes the dsp-extra with araine and the omnia 6ex.both are great processors.the whole nature of processing is subjective at best and they are products brought to market that a very worthy of consideration especially when price is a major factor.and once again Frank and Scott are gentlemen that take time from their very busy schedules to do posts on this board and that is very much appreciated.
