WHYI Y-100 Sounds different

I was the General Manager for WHTT, Y-100's sister Spanish language AM station. But when driving from Sweetwater to Hollywood to work, I would spend most of the time listening to Tanner in the Morning. I loved The Madam, Cox on the Radio, Mark in the Dark, Cramer, Kid Curry.

Prior to WHTT, I had mostly done Top 40 and Hot AC formats, and Y-100 showed me how much I didn't know!
How many people answered their phones with "I listen to the new sound of Y-100" in hopes of winning $50,000 dollars. Rival station WMJX tried playing off on that and was forced off the air by the FCC (RIP Stuart Elliott who signed that station off with "Long and Winding Road")

If anyone knows (or has a friend) who works at the radio station, why did Y100 (WHYI-FM 100.7) had to go back to normal pitch? Is there a way to convince them to change it back how it was before?

For example: https://www.radiodiscussions.com/th...tched-songs-to-normally-pitched-songs.695893/

To add more detail about this topic, here is proof of what Y100 Miami used to sound like before and right now.

I hope we can find a way to convince the radio station so that they can revert it back to what it was before, as heard from the first video.

Nah, they’re not going to do that just because one listeners prefers pitching.

Miguel- I am participating in this thread because I am interested in how you (or or someone else) perceives audio on radio stations.

The audio on your links is mostly imaging promos. About 15 seconds of music on one link and about 2 seconds of music on the other link.
Are you making a broad overall judgement on how a radio station's audio sounds based on imaging promos?

No, I would never judge a book by its cover or promote images. I'm just showing the difference on how does Y100 sound then and now. I really liked it when the radio station sounded before just like in the early 2000s when I first heard it (from the 1st video). On the other hand, Wild 95.5 (West Palm Beach) always has it slightly mid-pitch.

It's going to be a month now since I last heard from Y100 and there is more proof I found when the station was slightly high-pitched as seen on this video.

This is what it sounds like today (if I am correct):

Y100 - Miami's #1 Hit Music Station @ 100.7FM (hit the play button on the right side of the browser)

Please note that I do not promote any images, judge a radio station or a book by its cover in any shape or form, or pressure anyone at the radio station because it is for educational purposes. I hope one day it reverts back to when it sounded before.

I really can't tell the difference except the second one sounds a little clearer and less compressed. Maybe that's it?

Yes, but that may have been Pittsburgh at 13-Q... that's about when NOW tried to force a name change for Don Cox On The Radio, but of course he didn't.
And, of course, "Cox" was his born name.

radio done right!!!

I miss Y100 Miami when it was half-pitched. That experience I had for a year and a half was amazing and I hope that one day it changes back to the way it was, if it hasn't happened already.
