wibc 93.1 sound

Todays listening finds the sound about optimum now. No listening fatigue at all. The studio mics are not as clipped and nasal sounding. The only detractor which one must live with is the sound quality of some spots which are what you get.

Having been involved with an NPR affiliate I will agree they are always on the cutting edge (no pun intended) of good FM sound. Commercial radio is a little different in my boat as such does not have to be sparkling clean with absolute minimum clipping. A little bit of make-up can be good if applied properly.

A big improvement over 1070. Good luck in the new year to you folks.

The Lexicon plate reverb http://mixonline.com/TECnology-Hall-of-Fame/EMT-140-reverb-090106/settings with a long tail sounds good to my ears. It comes close to the old EMT units that have been used extensively in recording studios. The Harmon dudes will help with Lexicon settings if interested http://www.lexiconpro.com/ProductIndex.aspx?ProductID=10. There really isn't any digital unit that has the exact lush sound of the EMT-140 but Lexicon comes closest.
WTAM (Clear Channel) goes overboard with their reverb.

I'm still hearing the weather and traffic reports as shrill sometimes, and some music beds (such as Garrison's show open) are flat, but otherwise it's clear that the engineers have been hard at work on WIBC's processing.

While all of the technical critique throughout this thread has truly been insightful ::) the real simple question to be answered with this move is whether this is a viable business plan.
Emmis was billing $9,000,000+ in above-the-line revenue on an AM signal, in market #41. That is, quite frankly, phenominal. Can 93IBC do that on FM? Better still, can they do anywhere near that on the AM signal they abandoned to national syndicated sports programming? There was $14,000,000 in revenue combined on these two signals before - did they commit business suicide?
If they can't answer these questions, it doesn't matter whether they sound like they're broadcasting between two tin cans and a string. ;)

You weren't invited to that meeting? Thought you got the memo on that one. I told them they shouldn't have done this without your vote.

They NEVER listen to me. I tried bro.
