WIBC 1070 am has been one of the top 6 rated stations for several years, so after the switch to FM if they don't at least maintain that status, would the switch be a mistake??

I'll be waiting to see the new ratings, especially for mornings. Is it just me, or is Jake Query not a very good morning host? At least with Pidge, it was usually entertaining, but I have yet to be entertained by Jake. Also, Terri doesn't seem as cheery as she did with Jeff. Maybe it's just me, but I think I'll switch to Abdul.
I wonder how many screen names Abdul has? I kind of expect one of the high school stations kids to do this.

Repace one jock with another and he can either do it or not. Don't expect to see big price talent here though. I don't see or hear a great change. I expect everyone will be on edge for the big 2 share (ongoing previous prediction) for 93.1 or 1. something for 1070.
I have seen ratings go fm to fm when call letters change. I have not seen ratings go am to fm but it has been some time since a station with appreciable ratings made such a switch.
Years ago Emmis Research did a survey in an Indiana market and asked what station you listened to the previous week for at least 1 hour. A station whose call letters had been changed for 5 years received specific mentions (old call leters and old format)from at least 20 percent of the survey group of 200.

I hope you don't think that I'm Abdul...I'm certainly not. I'm just a former announcer that likes to listen to talk radio. Maybe I'm just partial to Jeff and Terri and haven't given Jake a fair chance yet, but I listened again this morning and didn't get much. Sure, the local news and traffic can't be beat, but for entertainment and information, I feel like I need to look elsewhere. I can't say that I'm a fan of Abdul, but given the choice of him or Jake, gotta go with Abdul. Of course, the fact that Paul Poteet is on with Abdul helps. (I worked with Paul at WGLM) Anyway, I'll be checking out the ratings next book. I do like Dave and Joe in the afternoons on WIBC, and the program Steve Simpson has is good. Having Mike McConnell on at night brings back memories for me as well. I used to listen to him on WLW years ago when I worked in southeast Indiana. Enough of my ramblings, just expressing my opinions. And I'll even sign my actual name.

As I've stated in previous threads, Dave and Joe were set to move to middays on the FM. Trends found upward movement in ratings for the Big Show and the powers that be at Emmis kept Dave and Joe on in afternoon drive.
Sorry, but people DO like Dave and Joe (and there have been subtle changes within the show.) Of course, we'll see how the ratings work for the winter book and whether the trends were accurate.

I listen to WIBC everyday during Wilson's show, but it's NOT because of Wilson. I would listen if it was an automated robotic voice giving traffic, weather, news. It's traffic, etc I TRUST - regardless of whether that's right or wrong. And as a person who listens EVERY DAY, I am very tired of the same old jokes, same delivery those jokes, same Matt laughing on que, and those STUPID 'false' headlines game he plays. Here's a thought, how about REAL headlines?
He's fine as a host, has done a great job for someone who was not a radio guy (other than cutting his teeth with B&T and on WNDE), but his schtick has run it's course.
And I want to know where you found out the difference between the PM drive ratings, and the 'listening BECAUSE of Dave Wilson.'
My guess is it was NOT a credible, verifiable source, other than your opinion.
Again, WIBC's AM and PM drive ratings do not reflect it's hosts. Midday with Rush does. Terri and Dave are NOT Rush - they are merely 'steering' the show from news, to weather, to traffic, and back to news.

Radio Access and indianaairwaves.net saying the trends were in for Indianapolis. Two days later the WIBC website listed Garrison in the 8:30 slot and The Big Show moved to 3 to 6. Coincidence? I think not.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that 93.9 wasn't talk anymore, so they didn't have to move their shows around for better competition.

Yep, I agree - MUST have been due to the extreme shot in ratings.
Wouldn't have had ANYTHING to do with the fact that it was weird enough for regular listeners to switch over from AM to FM, and that they didn't want to completely throw everything out of whack in the first weeks. No, it was the RATINGS that all of a sudden, just a few weeks before the switch, came in and they immediately saw the error of their ways.
Dave's job is safe for eternity. Job security must be nice.

By the way, you're not listening too closely. There is no more Matt laughing in the background. He's not on the show anymore as he was bumped up to management. Also, only one of the headlines is false. The others are real. Isnt the news for the real headlines? It's a game. Yeesh.

It's really easy to tell who actually listens to the show and who doesn't because all of the changes that are being discussed WERE talked about on the air.
