WIFE abandoning local coverage for Rushville?

Has anyone any clue why WIFE in Rushville seemingly provides very little support and coverage for their city of license? (Rushville). Recent high school basketball games have gone uncovered and for no apparent reason, community events and gatherings receive little fan fair as well. Previous ownership certainly showed much more concern and focus for their listenership and provided a much better product! It seems the only focus here is Connersville. Sad really. At least I've heard that the high school will soon be getting a station. I bet these "amateurs" will be much more professional than good ole JP and TC! WRLN Welcome To Town!!

Funny...They have a live jock on the Rushville board every afternoon & a live jock on the Connersville board every morning. While I can't speak for ball games (the moment I hear one, I--along with 99% of the regular music audience switch stations), having equal amounts of local presence in both cities seems like good balance to me. Happy New Year Mr Wilson!

Mr. Wilson:

If they focused more on Rushville, you'd complain that they were abandoning Connersville.

I would think those old grudges against Dave Rodgers and his people are getting pretty heavy after all these years.

You could easily ruin your back, your knees or maybe your shoulder carrying them around.

Let it go, dude.

Looking back at Mr Wilson's 6 posts, 5 of the 6 have been about WIFE. It would almost appear that if this poster weren't upset with WIFE's policies, he wouldn't even have bothered to create an account...interesting statistic.

or could it be that mr wilson is john wilson that was affiliated with rushville high scool for many years and has a legit complaint about the lack of coverage of local rushville events?

hey bob while we are the wife subject (i know you hate sports) but they boys and girls hs bb teams played 7 games in two different tourneys this week. i know in the past, the ball games generated a lot of revenue for the station, but the gm decided that if the couldnt cover both tourneys they were not covering either of them. seems like the stations took a major ad $$$ hit in this day of tight revenue? your thoughts? since music programming actually costs the station money and they can have a positive $$$ money fusion with hs sports?

Hi Randy...I'm the first to admit that I don't know beans about the business end of radio. I can almost fix a broken transmitter with my eyes shut, but give me one to run & make money with and I'd be filing for welfare within 6 months. So I'm not qualified to say either way. I do know that when sports come on the radio, most of the regular listeners go away. And they don't just go away until the game is over. They go elsewhere & they stay there until something on that station drives them back. Perhaps this was a calculated decision to give up 3 hours of revenue in exchange for having more listeners the following week? No idea...I'm just rambling. WKPW & WJCF throw decent signals over Rushville...if Rushville wanted to be on the air badly enough, they would probably have approached those stations. Or maybe they'd build their own station...which last I heard, they were working on.

Matter of fact there is WKPW, WJCF, and 2 translators. One for WJCF, the other for WRFM, that currently cover Rushville. The translators have a great in town signal too.

Having someone in the building to jock for 3 or 4 hours a day does by no means make them local. The only thing about WIFE that's local to Rushville is that is their city of license! No coverage of local Rushville sports, News, Events (other than Time to Trade on the weekend! AHAHAHA). Do they have local religious programs on anymore? Do they cover the Moscow covered bridge fest? Do they cover anything out of Carthage? Do they have the Mayor on the Morning Show? Do they talk with Purdue Cooperative? It's sad but no matter how you spin it WIFE has turned its back on Rushville. Having a body in the building (which is virtually empty other than a board, computer and mic stand) doesn't mean they care. In fact they don't, ask anyone from Rushville and you'll get the same response. The takeover of WKWH to WIFE is what should be used as a picture perfect example of what is both right and wrong with local radio. Outsiders who think they're better than everyone else. What's lacking is character, respect and attention to details, details that matter to the people who are supposed to be being served a service. Or in this case a disservice.

Mr. Wilson, you know so little of our programming, it appears that you are not even in the listening area. Our high school play by play teams, both of them, local ministers, Mayor Bostic and others will be shocked to know we don't have them on the air, and yes that is tongue in cheek since they are all on the air at one time or another. I propose that you come in to the studio on Monday the 10th at 1PM and sit down so we can chat and you can indeed get the answers you seek. It will also give you a chance to come out from behind your screen name and introduce yourself. Since you appear to be such a concerned citizen I know you want to do so right? And Mr. Klemme, have a nice day.....My name appears as my user name and I am the PD, nothing to hide here.....

Ted. I have no desire to ever speak to the likes of you ever again. I've spoke to you on numerous occasions and can demonstrate to anyone the way in which you carry yourself and present yourself are completely different. I've never met someone so condescending and arrogant. You are the dregs of society and feel that you're better than everyone else. You came into Rushville and mocked and belittled everyone from previous ownership (classy move there Mr. Rodgers JP AND TC BABY!), local religious leaders, political leaders and business owners! Big time radio attitudes in rural America...love it. Recipe for disaster...aka WIFE.

Are we talking about the same people here...or is there an evil twin WIFE in a parallel universe? I know all of these people & they're genuine, real people--they've shown me nothing but the utmost respect. I can assure you without reservation that the Ted Cramer who posts here vs the Ted Cramer who's on the air vs the Ted Cramer who I serve as a contract engineer are all exactly the same person.

Please allow me to clear the air. When we purchased WKWH (now WIFE) it was our goal to create a unified product between Rushville and Connersville. We don't do/cover/broadcast everything that the previous ownership did. As anyone will tell you, when you are super-serving two communities you can't be everywhere at once. That being said, "Mr. Wilson" needs to get his facts straight. We DO serve the Rush County community. We DO have news from Rushville and Rush County. We DO broadcast local sports. We DO have a good relationship with the Rushville business community.

As for Ted Cramer, he has done nothing but work his tail off to put a quality, sellable product on the radio that serves both communities. I have nothing but confidence in Ted and the entire staff.

LOL!! Randy I agree. Simply amazing the coverage they provide for Rushville and Rush Co. Kudos to WIFE! ALL HAIL WIFE!! Citizens of Rush County bow before her presence! SHE IS WIFE HEAR HER ROAR!!! What an absolute ton of garbage. I've heard on more than one occasion members of management belittle, ridicule and mock residents of Rush County. They moved in with a holier than thou attitude and it's obvious that's not changed. It seems they justify it by having a board op / on air jock, in the building for 3 or 4 hours a day. Yep...now that's coverage enough now back to Connersville News....ahahahaha. Laughable. Truly laughable. Can you even get the WIFE in Connersville? Well I suppose you can up until ya go down the hill! ahahahahaha horrible. Their signal services Rush County yet they ignore it and broadcast Connersville propaganda! Perhaps Fayette County plans a takeover? HAHAHAHA!

Oh and I'm curious. In researching WIFE on RadioInfo how many positive comments or posts do you see??? Where there is smoke their is fire. If it looks like a lemon, tastes like a lemon and smells like a lemon...well....ya got a lemon!

When searching for WIBC, how many positive comments or posts do you see? ::)
