This post addresses more than one issue, so those who have ADHD or cannot digest more than one issue might be advised to pass on it:

The DX terms applicable and relevant to FM are either "E-skip" or "tropo(spheric) ducting". Both involve reception of stations from several hundred to more than 1,000 miles away -- far beyond the line-of-sight physics that usually apply to FM.

Yeah, you got me on that and you're right. I too am familiar with tropo-ducting, having picked up signals from as far away as St. Louis while driving down the Kensington Expressway in the shadow of the Rand Building antennas! However, in the context of the initial post and my response, the picket-fencing was most likely created by first or second adjacent channel interference. I should have clarified that in my response. My bad.

It's good to see the board alive with discussion... about ANY topic. Wild-Z 101 isn't on my pre-sets and the station gets lousy ratings in Buffalo, but I check it out from time to time and listen to the music for a few minutes just to find out what the hell is going on. It's good to hear jocks with energy (as long as they're not wailing) and talking up posts and vocals WITHOUT WALKING ON THEM.

What's more, it's good to see that some posters CARE about RADIO, music, personalities and what the station sounds like. So major props to them... even if they write in maddening text message style that borders on illiterate.

I can't imagine being a high school English teacher or college professor who has to read essays. And before you flame me, I'm not a teacher or professor, nor do I pretend to be one in my posts. I like "creative writing" as much as the next person, but I try to save texting for my crack-berry.

At least posters are writing and expressing their opinions about the state of the business. And that "is a good thing."

As I proven, in the past, time and again, if I so desire I am able to
type a well-structured paragraph. When I do post some thing
worth while illustrating specific points/issues concerning radio
in the Western NY area, I try to relay the message as clear as possible.

Also, I have not incorrectly or unintentionally misspelled any thing since
I have "rediscovered" this board some short time ago ; furthermore,
if there is a question of spelling, this { (?sp) } is typed in, to
acknowledge an error may occur.

and, for the final time:
The reason, I waz typing like dis, ( way back) was to attempt to
relate to a peer who has a learning disability. The ridicul(?sp) on this
board, was overwhelming evidence to show the hardship that person
deals with on a daily basis. Sadly, I am not certain if that
individual even knows that they are herendous at the
spelling and grammar. Or, if aware of the deficiency, well
are too embarassed to ask anyone for assistance for fear
of being labeled as "stupid" or uneducated.

So, Call Me Sherlock, you actually help prove my point.

We old farts are actually bemoaning the fact that we recognize that we're old farts. We fully realize that young people today communicate differently, and that they both multi-task and shorthand communications in ways that we never anticipated.

The entire discussion of Wild / Z-101 is more of an amusement to us old folks. Most of us are pleased to see that it has even sparked discussion, and that there is a younger contingent on the board that has some passion for the industry. Sometimes it's hard to tell.

i am older than *EVERY CURRENT ( injuried, or otherwise) 2006-2007/BUFFALO SABRE,

(and for the record, i am a "close" 2nd to him in age).

so, i am not some late teen, that has every song
digitally uploaded, or downloaded, onto a.....
in fact, i will not submit into the digital age
of ipods, mp3 players, or those palm planner thingy's.
do people still use those ?! dont ask me, i am a part

This is news to me. Are you saying that the guy that shot himself was the husband of a local TV personality? If so, who?

The name hasn't been released according to local TV, which is a bit strange considering that it happened over 12 hours ago.

For the record, there is no indication whatsoever that the man who committed suicide at the Seneca Niagara Casino was/is the husband of a Buffalo TV personality. The story can be found in today's Buffalo News.

I know we relish rumor and inuendo in the radio-tv buisness on this board, but let's have some restraint when it comes to life and death issues.
