WILD 94.9 CUTBACKS... THE MAGIC NUMBER? 20!!!!

not quite yoyo...if you did your research you would see that Strawberry was #3 in the same key demo and had a HIGHER rating than tman. tman only got up to number 2 because EVERY other morning show dumped...especially chuey losing 2 full points.

the whole station is an embarassment... let it go black...switch formats - PLEASE no more posts about wild -- nobody is listening, nobody cares, end of story

Radiodx, wow i forgot about XPRS express radio, that was a powerful one, and always promoting their Oldies compilations, call now and It will cost you less than a pack of Cigararettes, I used to hear that station all nite long back in the 70 s ! Good Memories their "Radiodx" Kenny in Concord Thanks

Ahhhhhhh isn't it great that there is a website where all the bitter losers and frustrated radio pro's can come and spread their propaganda. Pretty sad really.
It usually happens to stations like Wild who have taken out of the box risks that have payed off big....stations like Wild who are actually on the right track for success only to piss off the people who were left in the dust...stations like Wild who when I was in The Bay recently sounded better than i've heard them sound in a long, long time.
Take this thread as a compliment KYLD staff and realize that all it must mean is your doing even better than you even thought!

Now I have to laugh my ass off....Sell the Numbers has been talking about the END of The Dog House on WFNY in NY and saying that "they " are an AE for WFNY and in the end the BS comes to light....They are just some a-hole....Well this was proven some time ago....And now they are more or an a-hole then before, because as you see they are working for an SF station....what might it be.......WILD....

Some people need to take posts on this site with a grain of salt. Someone comes in as "InsideOne" and blows his/her load, and that means Wild is losing, flipping, failing, sucking, hurting, et al??? I know some people like to share SOME information privately, but I find it hard to believe those who hide behind their identity -- especially those who created a profile JUST to post this one thing.

I think we'd have more intelligent conversations here if less people were hiding behind their alter egos.

Just my opinion...

More than just a grain of salt.

I've seen posters on this site slamming KYLD for months and months. Clearly, there are people in your market with strong vendettas against the station. The better Wild does the more annoyed they get. They've gotten real aggressive lately since the last book came out which was a major victory for KYLD.

As a programmer and a consultant of numerous stations I can assure you that PD Jazzy's job security should be a solid as any one in the country. If it weren't, as long is he isn't impossible to deal with on a personal level, he'd be scooped up by another company in seconds at a higher salary.

I can also correct an earlier post which said T-Man's market share in 18-34 went down while his ranking went up. That is incorrect.
Both share and ranking went up. Despite what some of you may know, share's fluctuate, all we really care about is ranking anyway.

Frankly, the fact that he didn't lose half the Bay audience as a new show coming into a major market with no marketing campaign promoting the show (correct me if I'm wrong on that) is pretty amazing. That he went up in three months, even more amazing (although it's likely ratings will go down before they go back up again). But, as some of you may recall, I predicted that the T-Man show would do very well in the Bay even though he's broadcasting out of Seattle. He's one of the few talents left in the industry that "moves the needle" as some of us oldertimers still say.

I agree with an earlier post, general rule of thumb, the more negative comments you see pertaining to a particular station (especially on a site like this one) the more people should assume they are doing quite well.

XM RADIO, I am happy to know that I was not the only one that remembered this one. If you go to REELRADIO(it's a pay site now) you can find a station id air check in spanish, because they had a transmitter in Rosalito Mexico and studios in L.A. if my memory serves me right. Rick ward now runs a trucking company out of California from what I understand.

Its obvious that "sellthenumbrs" and michael Martin are one in the same. The real issue with Wild 949 is they let the DogHouse go. Yea yea there rating were "droping" and they wern't willing to sign a "non-syndication deal". Clear Channel (michael Martin) made the worst choice ever by not putting pressure on the PROOVEN show to proov themselves somewere else (syndication).

I was never a Strawberry fan and found myself really disliking the way he talked trash about the DogHouse. He couldhave given them the credit they were due and he would have gradually won over there fans. Just Like St. John never said a bad word about them and he is doing well still. T-mann's first day on the radio in SF and he talked trash about them. As a HUGE DH fan i did tune in HOPING that T-MANN would bring something to the bay. Of all the top 10 markets SF has the worst morning shows, I find myself streaming radio all day. I listen to O and A on XM during the am and John London in the afternoon. COME ON BAY AREA PD's Get something worth listening to..... the MONEY WILL FLOW SOON AFTER....

Ohh yea one more thing i learned While reading online news... WILD 949 Comedy Jam Profit 125,000 with the doghouse 425,000 HMMMM Strange

Anybody my age (er...getting old) who grew up in LA in the 60s and 70s will remember 1090 AM - A clear channel flamethrower with transmitter in Rosarita Beach, Mexico - about 20 miles south of the border. It became the "Soul Xpress" (XEPRS) in the 70s. Prior to that, it was owned by Wolfman Jack, with call letters XERB (the "Mighty 1090") who was on the air 24 hours a day through the magic of tape. From what I understand, the tapes were recorded in XERB's studios in Hollywood and driven 2 hours south to the transmitter site where they were played. I understand that 1090 could be heard all up and down the West Coast at night.

I remember the top-of-the hour IDs in Spanish, obviously reguired by the Mexican government. Since they weren't under FCC regulation, they got away with a lot, and had no news or public service requirements. During Wolfman's time, it was all Soul music, interspersed with 5 minute race-horse handicapping reports from the various Southern California tracks - kind of a radio version of the Daily Racing Form. Later, they brokered out time to sell Oldies records - Art Laboe's "Oldies But Goodies," if I remember correctly. Laboe is credited with coining the term "Oldies," and he sold millions and millions of his 50s record collections.

I believe before this, the Wolf broadcast from XERF in Acuna, Mexico, and the shows were recorded in Del Rio, Tx. and taken across. Not that that has anything to do with Wild 94.9.

Since they seem to have a pretty substantial investment in the T-Man, and it is likely a contract they have to pay out whether he's on in SF or not, I'd bet they don't blow up Wild, no matter what people say here. When CC blew out a bunch of people in early November last year, there wasn't any word in the halls, and certainly none that would reach staff...only the top management knew. Even the IT engineer, who went around disconnecting all the folks that got blown out didn't know until the end of the day when they laid him away that he was on the list....

Great post...voice of reason on a board of bitter losers. don't know how many times I have to reveal that I'm female, relocated to the northeast where I went to school and currently work as an AE as I have for years. Still get back to the Bay Area any chance I get.
Hey Radio Profit, any chance your initials are JC?

Sell The Numbers,

Your on the east coast and your female?

Fine..... ohh yea your credability was SMASHED when you said the doghouse would not get a new deal, and they wouldnt finish there deal with CBS... So i uess since you were full of it then we should believe you now?

There was a fundemental change in that assesment when the former PD moved on. Whatever though, believe what you want to believe about me. I've never cared. I do admit though, that my assesment of that situation turned out to be inaccurate when that happened. That plus DH were willing to continue on, on the cheap. These are the things that one in the workforce is willing to do when you have no other options.
Have a nice week everyone.

I did not know Strawberry trashed the Dog House. If so, then what a little punk. The Dog House, especially JV was pretty instrumental to his success in the station. If you remember, they even got Strawberry to fight women at the Battle of the Big Boys. That got him a lot of popularity with Dog House fans, and it carried over to the night shift.

I wish 949 nothing but the worst, they don't do things with class. St. John clearly is not happy there. The Dog House mentioned several times he was just taking orders, because he had to. One time he was even in tears I think...

BUt whatever...949 is dead to me and a whole lot of other people

I don't think Strawberry ever trashed the Doghouse. If you claim he did, can you say when he did it and what was said??

I think if he had, it would have made this forum the day he did and would recount what was said, but I believe I have never seen such a topic. Plus all the Doghouse faithful on this board would have responded with much hatred, it would be remembered.

i love it! everyone is scrambling to cover their arses! i didn't talk mess about the doghouse!

anyone in the building today over at 340 townsend? whats the temperature over there? looking for an update... insider one??

As a jock, I make it a point not to go to these message board websites. It is dangerously easy to take your concentration away from your audience and focus on what "Mystery Man X, Y or Z" said about you or your show.... I have been emailed thread links by friends and collegues in the past but I paid little attention to what the thread contained.
I whole heartedly appreciate those writing here who have stuck up for me and bear no ill will to those interested in mudslinging. All I really wanted to say was that THIS IS ME. This is my screen name that I had created minutes ago and if I ever post a note it will be with THIS NAME; MY NAME.
It seems that the person with the s.n. "Radio Crusader" may be leading you to believe he is me (or him saying "I" was a typo) but that is not the case.

And lastly, NO, I never trashed JV or Elvis when I was on air at 949...or even at FREE FM. And also, I dont say "arses" I say "asses"....That is all.... I am going back to the dog park and enjoy my "time off.".... :)

Sell By the NUMBERS I give ou big respect for sating you were incorrect in your assesment... Thats cool! Sorry for putting you down!

Strawberry.... What a man to some on here and defend yourself. I honestly never really like the show but you had good ratings and poeple liked you! Good luck in getting on at CBs (FREE) There is a market for you I am sure.

Now I know a comment was made on your shoe about the DH many times but one that sticks out was about mid feb 2006 "the doghouse?" "check out the online petition those fols don't have 200 people that want them back in the bay" "yea there time has passed" HAHAHAHAH

I will try to find the audio I have it saved a "friend" sent it to me!

Take care!

i've mentioned Tommy Del Rio! he's running two great stations right now. i'm sure he would at least bring this station back from being a laughing stock.

[EDIT]
How is Tommy Del Rio running two great stations? Everyone's saying that Q97 does well, everytime I check KBOS always beats them. When he took over KYZZ he hired Bennie Siegel as his APD/MD and within two weeks he QUIT. Tommy has a history of being hard to work for. Maybe because Bennie knew it would go downhill at KYZZ and nobody wants to stay on a sinking boat. When Tom White went to San Diego he took out XHTZ which was vulnerable to take down the same thing happened in Sacramento with KSFM. We all know he could jump over pebbles but he doesn't do well over hurdles. Anybody could have took them out, HELL! Rick Delgado could have taken them out if he wanted too. How about taking a station thats well established like KMEL. To be a PD to be in a market 4 you need to be professional, what went down at KBMB again?!
