Wild fights back against JSE fans

I did say in a post what they, the alternative rock fans, NEED to do.

And I'll just leave it at that :)

Press Broadcasting bet that they wouldn't ever pull it together enough to do that. And ultimately, I think Press Broadcasting was right.

And that's unfortunate. :-\

I'll be the FIRST to admit that the concept of a "coalition" for music fans to get their music heard on the radio was a crazy one (in my case...dance music). People were laughing at me, mocking me, bashing me, you name it. I took a lot of crap for it from the naysayers, but the dance music fans believed, under the one simple premise....that being united we can do MORE than being divided. Yet maybe because it is a "crazy" idea that does take up a lot of time and dedication, that no one wants to run one for their music.

Using New York City as an example, there was never an "oldies coalition" when the fans of WCBS-FM lost their format to "Jack" (though the "oldies" format did come back later). Despite the fact that country music fans swear that there is an audience for their music in New York City (to which I am inclined to agree), no one has formed a "country music coalition". There hasn't been a country station in NYC since 2003.

If the alternative fans are upset about things, then they should do a coalition for their music. But not as a bash to Wild or as a "memoriam" to 'JSE but to be proactive, look into the ratings and study how an alternative station can BENEFIT a radio station. At this point, you want A station. :)
