WILD WASN'T ON THE AIR THIS MORNING!

Guess what? WILD 1090 wasn't on the air this morning. I wonder if Radio One finally pulled the plug! I don't think so, but...

The future of 1090 was written on the wall when the FM counterpart was sold. AM Radio is such an outdated and obsolete concept anyways, and the increasing noise and interference isn't helping. The formats that kept AM Radio on life support are migrating to FM at a fast pace. I believe we will see AM Radio dissapear from new cars over the next 10 years.

The only AMs that have life left in them will be the big market 50 kW blasters. Even those powerhouses will eventually have to migrate to FM. The migration of traditional AM formats such as news, news/talk and sports to FM has so far avoided the big 3 markets of NY, LA and Chicago but it'll get there eventually. It's inevitable! :)

But we can hear the Jets in Southern New England! :D Sorry, I had to do that!

On the plus side, A.M. will be a hobby broadcasting band in a few more years!

several good AMs further up the band. 5.025 out of cuba, 6.185 out of mexico city, 9.42 out of greece

850 sounds better than comcast (celtics games) with a 20 khz wide filter. no tinny codec sonds

Am I missing something? Even with the poor programming neglected engineering and daytime only status. It's still showing up in the ratings! It's cume is actually better than the vaunted wxks am. If the price was right and if I had the money. I'd buy the station. Slap an urban format on it. Put up a robust website with a 24 hour stream and then maybe miraculously get a FM translator. Okay awake from dream. :D

The Jets' flag, WEPN, can barely be received in New Jersey! Don't worry, I'm a Giants' fan! :)

Before Radio One WILD, the People's Station was great. In the early 2000's it had good sound in AM Stereo, good music and show hosts and pulled in some listeners. I especially liked the "Time Tunnel" on Saturday's.

Someone could make something of it with a little attention to details. No, it won't be number one in the market, but it could provide a useful service and generate some revenue.

But we can hear it here in R.I.! Not strong but it's there. I don't think it gets ratings in Providence but WFAN & WCBS do. I think WINS too. My fiancee's a fan of Big Blue. Next time we head to The City, we're planning to head over to the new stadium.

I remember seeing WILD with a 2.2 back in the '90s. I'm in East Providence so I can't usually hear WILD because on WPMZ splattering over. What are they running daytime? I guess it's brokered time? I've heard it's not classic soul anymore except the weekend. Is this correct?

WINS and WEPN are directional 50 kW stations. Both can be easily received north and north east of NYC, not so well in New Jersey.

The smack talkin' big bad Jets have arguably the worst radio situation in the NFL! They are one of only four teams to not have an FM flag or co-flag. The other three teams, the Giants, Bears and Broncos are on 50 kW clear AM blasters. The Jets are likely the only team in the NFL whose flagship radio station is a directional AM and in the #1 media market no less!

Hope you and your fiancee get to see a Giants' game, assuming we have football this year! ;)

weekdays from Sunrise Tom Joyner Morning Show
10am-1pm Warren Ballentine-Superadio Networks
1pm-4pm Al Sharpton -Superadio
4pm-Sunset. I thought they were playing Classic Soul/Classis R&B? (with no radio hosts)
Weekends, I don't know because I don't listen because I work overnight and sleep almost all day

So it's a radio station in a can. If I remember, I'll try to check after 6 tonight as well as the weekends but even in Taunton the signal isn't that great. Thanks for the heads up!

They have classic R & B on Saturdays and gospel music on Sunday mornings, with classic soul filling out the rest of the day. Also, they have some paid advertising programs on the weekends, including that Brother Andre on Sunday mornings. (He's a loud-mouth, but he knows what he's talking about.)
