Well that certainly always is the problem..... if someone LMA's a station, and the owner sees him/her/they doing well, they'll jack up the rates and break their spirit. Add to that, that stations like this are almost always quietly for sale while this is happening, and the programmers buying the time might find a dead end there upon transfer to new owners. My guess is that R1 is just keeping it on the air until they get an overpriced offer now (been known to happen), or they get a fair price later in a couple years when the later price matches the now's overpriced offer that never came along.

RadioNoOne has ran almost every station of theirs into the ground. To me, they just seem to make stupid decision after stupid decision. I'm sure they have their strong markets but they have too many failures to call them the Urban Media Specialist. If they really wanted to get rid of WILD, they would lower the price tag. If they actually wanted to make a buck or two off the station, they would clean up the audio chain, throw up a simple website and stream the station online. WILD is stuck in the caveman ages on a bad sounding daytime only station.... no wonder why every commercial break is all PSA's and Radio One wonders why they make no money off the station :

I would love to see this station sold to a Gospel group or religious group in the area who puts a "praise" format on there with african american gospel and possibly even local talk shows, since it is a legendary african american station. But I think I'm getting a little too carried away, because Radio One will probably still have the station in 10 years, and by that point they will be carrying dead air and playing random audio clips just to keep the liscense. Lower the price and sell it to someone who actually cares about the station, it's quietly been for sale since 2006 for crying out loud, a legendary signal is dying in Radio One's hands.

WKYS is a well run station, from what I've heard. I never said Radio One ran every single one of their radio stations into the ground, and like I said I'm sure they have their strong markets, and DC I know is one of them. From what I read on the DC boards WKYS is heading towards a Rhythmic direction, they are changing with the times, which is a good move on Radio One's part.

Radio One is only good in Atlanta,Baltimore and Washington D.C. ( D.C. may change with Radio One's recent DUMB move with WMMJ ). Sometime's the sun shine on a dog a$$. Radio One ," I see Dumb People ".
