Wildman Walker to Class X

OK. I don't care what you listen to. I don't care what you or anybody else thinks of EBN. I thought we were talking about the business of radio.
By the way, radio stations have been playing what you call "the same crap over and over" since hit music radio was invented 50 years ago. Again, compare the audiences. That formula has worked for decades.

Well, if we are talking about "The Business of Radio"...and comparing audiences with a formula that has worked for decades, then there is a good chance that those who enjoyed Wildman Walker on WEBN as well as those who enjoyed him on RealTalk 1160, will follow him to ClassX.

By your comments, you are proving my point, that there are listeners out there who want what they want- and it's not the same old Corporate stuff; over and over again. Listeners want something different, something they haven't heard before, and if it means going to non corporate radio the listeners will go there.

2ndsout if all of Wildman's fans from 1160 follow him to ClassX, its still a no show. You continue to prove that you don't get it. I'm glad there's a ClassX out there for the people who don't like corporate radio. I'm really only responding to your earlier post that its good for Wildman. He'd go back to EBN in a split second if he were invited. Don't kid yourself.

People who want something different have already abandoned radio for the myriad of other, better products that are out there in today's world. I assume most people who still rely on the radio are perfectly okay with hearing the same 2 Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pearl Jam songs 20 times a day. Corporate radio: passionless product for passionless listeners. Sounds bad, but they're still making money, so why on earth would they change?

I doubt He cares after being on WEBN for over 25 years I think He can have fun with radio instead of working for The Man.

25 years ago WEBN was the antithesis of 'The Man.' I guess you had to be there.

OK Al. I would hardly consider listeners passionless. That's a convenient cliche for you to throw out there. I know you all miss the radio of your youth, but the passion is still there from both sides whether you guys see it or not.
And nicomp, 25 years ago, WEBN was part of Jacor. I don't know how to break it to you, but that was "The man."

Track his career path. It's dead. Working there is like working at a college or volunteer station.

And you would know because you have been involved with ClassX, right? Don't talk about the station if you haven't been there before.

Would you say the same about Joel Moss and Jay Gilbert as well?

Sorry, but Clear Channel shot themselves in the foot because Moss was the creative force behind the fireworks soundtrack, and now the soundtrack will be produced by some hack that has no idea what the fireworks soundtrack entails. Way to go bean counters! Bean Counters unite! :-\

Walker has had a long career in radio, and just because he is not at WEBN doesn't mean his career is dead. In my opinion, the opposite could be said... WEBN has been dead since the early 1990s... The station is a former image of itself and Frank Wood has been turning in his grave for quite a while now.

Clear Channel has made a complete joke of the "longest running "Rock" station in the U.S. ::) :-\
Wouldn't that be KSHE St. Louis.....

Before Jacor, it was the Wood family.

As soon as the Senior and Junior realized they could make lots of money with a "progressive" rock format, they jumped on it. Over time, WEBN's anti-establishment image was deliberately and carefully crafted. They were in it for the money, and appearing to be the antithesis of 'The Man' did it for them.

If they weren't in it for the money, would they have sold WEBN to 'The Man'.

That said, I loved the station, and appreciate it's contribution to Cincinnati radio.
