Will 94.7 be sold ?????

Does anyone know if WFME -FM will be sold???? And what about their TV station???

My understanding is they have no plans on selling WFME at this time. The only two stations they wanted to divest was Philly and DC/Maryland.

Right now they have higher ratings than a couple of stations with city signals, including WEMP. Having said that, here's to hoping that Greater Media gets to buy it and puts their Classic Oldies format on there, since it is essentially a north Jersey stick, anyway. Failing that, either a simulcast of NJ 101.5, country (provided it's well-programmed), dance, alternative rock or Spanish-language sports.

Perhaps if the station gets new owners they could put a country format on it along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and the best of the Who? Feel free to add in any more groups the you would think could make it more interesting?

if anyone buys 94.7 they are going to have to stunt for a while

broadway 94.7 anyone lol

Better a loop of R.E.M's It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) and or Skeeter Davis' -- The End Of The World

If 94.7 FM sold, can the new buyer move this station onto the Empire State Building tower?

Scott Fybush may contribute the exact data, but I believe that WFME is short spaced to the NE and can't move closer to the City (unless it reduced power, much like what is now WQXR had to do to get in from NJ). There are some cases of mutual interference pacts, but that's a considerable speculation.

I thought the reason 105.9's signal is decreased was because of WCHR in Manahawkin and WBLI in Long Island.

Even though I hate the idea of more talk going onto FM, would ESPN be interested in putting $60,000,000, give or take a tithing, into Family Radio's poor box for 94.7?

Or maybe find some way of dangling 50,000 watt WEPN at Camping as partial payment? Retired or not, the AM dial seems to be more his demo anyway.

There once was talk in Philadelphia about Family Radio going to 610. Same sort of signal burrs and peculiarities as WEPN's, in a way.

Meantime, the overwhelming bulk of the 610 WIP audience has moved to the younger FM dial in like just three months. That 610 simulcast is not going to last too much longer. If there's ever a a ripe point to rush from AM sports to FM sports in NYC, now seems the time.

Exactly... in order to move to the City, they had to reduce power to protect other stations that would have suffered prohibited overlap unless the facility was diminished.

Whether it is cochannel or adjacent channel, the moving of a station has to take into consideration the other allocations in the area.

I could see CBS, or ESPN dangling one of their AM's to Pacifica or Family as part of a station sale deal. For CBS, keeps them under the FCC cap, and would migrate an AM to FM. ESPN 94.7, anyone? 99.5 The Fan? And, Pacifica and Family keep an outlet in the #1 market.
