Will 94.7 be sold ?????

If 94.7 FM sold, can the new buyer move this station onto the Empire State Building tower?

Scott Fybush may contribute the exact data, but I believe that WFME is short spaced to the NE and can't move closer to the City (unless it reduced power, much like what is now WQXR had to do to get in from NJ). There are some cases of mutual interference pacts, but that's a considerable speculation.

I think the problem with 94.7 is WMAS in Springfield, MA is also on the frequency. When Malrite purchased 100.3, it was WVNJ-FM and based in Newark with its transmitter in NJ. The stick was soon relocated to the ESB. 100.3 is short-spaced to Philadelphia and to 100.1 in Manahawkin. :)

Good point from Tom Taylor today: with the purchase of WLNY, CBS is at current FCC ownership limits, with 2 TV, 3 AM, and 3 FM. Without a change in the ownership limits or a waiver, CBS would not be able to buy another FM property if one were to become available.

Make 94.7 Alternative Rock but play alternative hip hop in the mix. make it called FM 94.7

What in the world is alternative hip hop? ???
artists such as the roots, gym class heroes, any band that infuses hip hop with rock. it's a cool combination.

Infused with rock? Huh? I always thought of alternative hip-hop as the more thoughtful and/or eccentric stuff, anything with lyrics NOT all about making money, selling drugs, consumerism, gold chains, or calling women "b***hes." The spiritual descendants of De La Soul and Arrested Development, et al. Groups like Blackalicious, Shabazz Palaces, Sage Francis, Dalek, MF Doom, etc. But that stuff's not popular, generally.

Sadly, there's no way in a million, billion, jillion, gazillion years that a commercial alternative radio station in NYC would play alternative hip-hop mixed with rock, except for the occasional Roots track maybe.

But you can hear a bit of this kind of approach on the Alternate Side weekday mornings on WNYE and online (and on WFUV-HD3 -- HA HA HA HA HA! just kidding, nobody owns HD radios, and in fact they've STOPPED MENTIONING HD on the Alternate Side). They just played the Roots this morning, right after Surfer Blood and Neon Indian and right before Blitzen Trapper.
