Will 98.9 The Walk Die on Monday?

IHeartRadio lists it as "Walk Song Stunt".

"These Boots Were Made For Walkin'", "Under The Boardwalk", "Walk Away Renee", "Walk Don't Run", "Walk Like A Man", "Walk On By" and the ubiquitous ticking clock.

Also should note that all songs so far are all "oldies".

Listening right now. Sounds like this stunt is a lot older than the average, mid-70s song on True Oldies.

With all the classic country coming up ("Walk The Line", "Walking After Midnight"), would Cumulus consider classic country for one of their translators?

Repeating songs during a 1 hour stunt----LAZY. Should have included :
Walk on the Wild Side- early 70's. Walk this Way- late 70's Walking on Sunshine..

FB page is back up and active! However if you look at the logo for the station, it looks similar the the Obama logo. Needs to be changed to show no bias.

I wonder why they went with the True Oldies Channel instead of a true Classic Hits sound like Cumulus' stations around the country (i.e. the former Atlanta's Greatest Hits 106.7)? 106.7 started out with the True Oldies Channel before going local with a Classic Hits (pop & r&b mostly from the 70's & 80's) format which did much better ratings wise. I think the music is much better and upbeat.

Questions:

1) First of all, did anyone record the flip?

2) Who will this affect most? I'm guessing River. River was playing Steely Dan over lunch today, a rather soft spin for River as of late. I think it's safe to say that Q100 will not be affected, except for competing for space in the prize closet.

3) What will be done with 97.9? If we stick to canned formats off the bird, I could see the following:
--Classic rock to compete with River
--Classic country to flank Kicks, especially if Kicks changes (see below)
--Soft AC
--Variety/adult hits, as long as it centered on the 80s/90s (no, not the same as Journey was).

4) According Allaccess.com, the "The Walk" branding will be "integrated" into Kicks. Not sure what that means (http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/121652/98-9-the-walk-atlanta-flips-to-oldies ). Does this mean a Christian show? Kind of flies in the face with what Cumulus is doing nationally with NASH. Are significant changes coming to Kicks? That's about the only station that Cumulus hasn't touched in a while.

General comment: I like the music mix. Seems to span early 60s-early 80s, more older than newer. Heavier on the more obscure hits, and lighter on the obvious/burned-out stuff like Beatles/Beach Boys/Motown. Not afraid to touch 80s or disco. No overlap with classic rock. Sounds better than the last time we had TOC (not to mention the horrid engineering on 106.7)--diverse mix with no fear of turning into another Fox 97 "good times and eight oldies".

With that music mix, Cumulus could still shoehorn in an 80s/90s-centered adult/variety hits station on 97.9.
