Will Burge, T.J Zuppe fired from WKNR

Morale has to be really low there-I'm not sure how he can spin this as positive at all.

Here is how he spins it...... None of you were fired or let go. We value you and want to continue with you. We will continue to pay you very little. if you like it, stay. if not, we can find replacements.

So if WKNR made these cuts to compensate for having the Browns, will anyone from The Fan be let go for the same reason?

What about those post-game shows WKNR had for the Indians and Cavaliers....are those gone also?

The Fan's Production Director was let go a couple months ago.

Didn't 92.3 hire a new production director to replace the one who left?

Karmazin should also add this nugget in his meeting as well: No matter what Aaron Goldhammer does he is untouchable and will never be fired. You all know that right?

I'm actually begining to enjoy Goldhammer and how bad he is. The best part is how Rizzo and the station have no faith in him when Rizzo is off the show for vacation. They constantly bring in another co-host (usually Cherry) to help him out. His over the top a predictions and takes on sport are so bad that they are comical.

92.3 has such a chance to take the ball and run with it here. But, they have their own issues. I don't listen to their morning show, so I can judge it. But, the others show I do. Baskin and Phelphs are boring. Bull is good, but Fox needs work. Carmen is great for his slot.

I can't forget Munch either he is a radio "legend" ;D. Munch won't be fired either cause he does not take a salary from the station but rather gets free healthcare and sells his own spots. Hence why he is on KNR2 which reaches two streets in Cleveland.

I'm fascinated with the Goldhammer hate on a few different levels. We all know Rizzo isn't a nuts and bolts sports guy, so don't you think his arguing with Hammer is a huge part of the show? If the sidekick agreed with Riz on everything, wouldn't make for a dull show? Could you imagine Kiley and Booms agreeing non-stop? Their whole dynamic is that they're at odds on everything.

Also, haven't seen it written much, but Hammer is producing the Browns pregame show. He's pretty well thought of behind the scenes in terms of a producer role. He essentially produces the Riz show as well (which does very well...he books the guests as well).

I get hating his voice or his OSU takes, but do you hate radio guys based on opinions? Don't you want strong opinions, whether you agree or disagree?

Craig Karmazin was on with Bruce Hooley just now and announced the new lineup for WKNR:

6-9a - Mike and Mike
9a-1p - RBS
1-3p - Browns Daily
3-6p - Hooligans 2.0 (Hooley/Je'rod Cherry/Emmitt Golden)
6-8p - Munch on Sports
8p-6a ESPN Radio

Also, Greg Brinda will host 10th inning after Tribe games, KNR Overtime after Cavs games, and 5th Quarter after Browns games.

Hooley/Munch/Matt Wilhem will do the Buckeye pregame show, and Munch returns for postgame.

This also means Munch is off KNR2 in the morning, giving us a Mike and Mike simulcast on 850 and 1540 (with of course hour 4 of M&M exclusively on KNR2)

he might be good from a technical point of view producing. But, his takes are bad and illogical many times. he is very unprepapred. I don't mind having a negative point of view (Peter Brown was great with it in CLE), but Hammer is just on the radio.

I'm glad they still at least have something local til 8-I'm sure they can go longer if there is breaking news (coach firing, major trade, ect..)-Hooligans 2.0 seems like an odd pairing, not sure how that will work...

Aaron could be a good host when he wants-asks way better questions on interviews than Rizzo, is probably a good producer-is the over the top "trolling" topics just to get a reaction-the John Elway interview, saying Ohio State will lose 4 games, let's build a billboard for Lebron, ect..the cringe factor is Rizzo picks up his language-using "bro" all the time, and "I'm chicken wing guy", "I'm totally A-1 steak sauce guy, bro.."

For the first time since they went sportstalk, I do not have a car "button" on WKNR.

May check out Brinda when he does the Indians & Cavs post-game...but, I'm done with them otherwise. The station is IMHO ridiculous, unlistenable for me.

Anyone know how long the "no compete" clauses are for these guys? Didn't seem like Fedor was off the air very long between WKNR letting him go and when he started at The Fan.

Why was Fedor let go? I know he told someone on twitter not long ago it had nothing to do with anything he said on the air..

Consultants are hired to tell stations (and businesses) how to improve their bottom lines, what changes to make to turn things around.

And, many stations (and businesses) listen. And hope to heck the consultants they trust know what they're doing.

Whatever WKNR is doing must be working for them if they're beating out The Fan in some demos.

According to the Beacon Journal, The Fan beats KNR in the main dayparts except for one (assuming that's RBS vs Baskin and Phelps).

All I know is that the Fan has had the same lineup since day 1 in August 2011 (not counting CBS Sports Radio coming to overnights), while KNR has had numerous changes. In fact their schedule has been revamped all over the place except for Mike and Mike (which is ESPN mandated) and RBS.

They were very willing to shuttle Jim Rome to 1540 to make room for "Browns Daily". If Rome had had real strong numbers, they wouldn't have been so quick to ship him out.

The difference is Kiley and Booms and others shows like them are good at playing the "yin-yang" role. Goldhammer isn't. His takes are so over the top and silly, that's why he and his takes get laughed at and he will never be taken seriously in this market as an on-air host. Rizzo can only carry him so far on his charisma and likeability. Riz does minimal work on the show, so he relies on Goldhammer to do all the heavy lifting/ prep. That's why Riz has stuck with him so far. If he is well thought of as a producer/ behind the scenes guy, than he should stick to that. His credibility as an on-air personality, is shot in this market, totally, and not just on Ohio State matters.

I've always felt like Hammer works more as a personal assistant to Rizz.

He really is tethered to him, appearing with Tony often at off-air functions.
