I'm sure that whoever runs the page for the station will read the comments but if your asking will they do what the commenters are asking about, I doubt it. You can't run a station that caters to the whims of every person that posts on a message board.

Especially when they do in fact play a good number of Freestyle songs already as well as all of the appropriate house titles. If the commenter believes that they are going to be playing deep house cuts all day then I'm sure they will be disappointed.

As for mix show jocks, I know that the station has been flooded with calls from dj's wanting to be on the air. When the time is right I'm sure Joel will put on the best dj's available.

Sounds like management at CC or one of the other big coporate owners.
Listeners could go over to KTU or Z-100 for that kind of attitude (with a clearer signal).
I wonder how long Pulse is gonna last.

Please don't stop listening to the listeners. The ones who seek you out on Myspace, hoping someone in charge will see it, are the same ones who show up faithfully at your remotes because what you play really matters to them. Do whatever business decisions you have to do, but please don't ever forget that some enterprising do-it-yourselfer looked your *ss up on Myspace because they love the music that much. Peace.

I think your missing my point. I'm not saying don't listen to your listeners but your not going to be able to please everyone as is evidenced by the statements above. One person asking for more Freestyle and another more House. If you ask ten other people they will all want more of something else. So who do you listen to? If you add more of one thing that means there is less of something else. Stations will add more of the music that fits the image of what they are doing in an effort to bring in more of the demos that allow them to sell commercials.

A good mix of all dance is what we should expect and I believe that the dance stations are all delivering that for their respective audiences.

Depends on your definition of dance. For me, they are. For someone that doesn't like remixes of Pop records they may not be.

A Mix

How about this one.

Commercial Dance, Latin Freestyle, Disco
House, Commercial Dance, Latin Freestyle, Disco
Trance, House, Commercial Dance, Latin Freestyle, Disco

and then loop it with different artist and groups.

That's what KTU should sound like regardless of the so called "demography".

KTU should promote dance music as a format and not what they are doing...Advertisers dont have a clue on why Clear Channel and its programming are killing dance music.

Time for an overhaul.

Im with JP,,,, Pulse needs to program to the masses if they are gonna compete against Z and KTU. You cant listen to people that want underground Drum n Bass, or Glitch Core, or Synth pop, or Jumpstyle or anything like that. You have to meet in the middle and play stuff that everyone can enjoy, which in New York means alot of Pop Remixes, and female vocal house, but also an occasional Freestyle classic. Just be happy you have any Dance on the radio at all. If pulse tried to be a Techno station with Mix Shows all day long plus tons of Instrumentals they arent gonna last. You have to play music that people know, songs that girls can sing along with. ya know..... Who wants pulse to turn into a Freestyle haven, it would be okay if Freestyle was still putting out new quality tracks. Plus, they still play plenty of old freestyle on KTU, why would pulse wanna go that route, its not 1988 anymore.

trance and house?....lol...GET a CLUE!

These dance fans think its still 1998. The freestyle people thinks its 1988.

Gotta wonder how longs its been since they've been in a club.

It's like Tim Moseley was never born.

The problem is programmers never want to commit to an all dance station. Thats why there are so many pop remixes to gap the familiar and unfamiliar....If I were running Pulse I would play the pop remixes and a lot of the popular tracks from 97 to 2004 along with the dance hits of now. I would get the audience accustommed to the dance and in about 8 months I would start increasing the number of new dance tracks and slowly drop the gold. Then i would even limit the pop remixes to only the top hits. Now this wouldn't work everywhere...but in New York...hell yeah!

So you're saying most Dance clubs don't play House and Trance? ??? This is news to me. All the big clubs in New York have resident DJs who specialize in House, and the most popular DJs in the world are the Trance DJs (even moreso then in 1998).

The thread dealing with Freestyle music on Pulse is actually pretty good. The posters realize the station needs to devote most of its time to new(er) music. It's cool to read though that Pulse is playing some Freestyle classics that havent been heard in ages, by the likes of India, Alisha, and even Pajama Party (I still jam to "Yo No Se" on occasion).

what do dance clubs have to do with radio, or popular music? Big city dance clubs are havens for taking as many drugs as possible and trying to get laid several times in one night; trance is the perfect soundtrack for THAT; but in morning rush hour traffic, IT DON'T PLAY!

Most Mainstream clubs play house not trance.

Next time I go to Connecticut (from NJ), I will intentionally try to get stuck in traffic so I could enjoy Pulse87
